Transcribed by Tabitha Weekly Robert Brown 575 Last Will and Testament of “Robert Brown” State of Louisiana, Parish of Orleans, City of New Orleans Be it known that on this Twenty-eighth day of January in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and eighty eight. At the request of Robert Brown, a resident of this of this city, did repair to the house occupied by him on Perdido Street between Prieur and Johnson streets where having arrived, I found the said Robert Brown, lying in his bed, sick in body, but being of sound mind, memory and judgment who requested me said notary to receive in my official capacity his last Will and Testament, which I accordingly reduced to writing as by him dictated in the presence of James Mallon, Charles H. Cripps and D. P. Hale, all three residing in this city and herein acting as witnesses. “I have been married to a first wife, now deceased and from whom I had a child named Robert Brown, now aged about thirty-nine years, when my first wife died I had no property of any kind – I am married to Christiana Ann Miller and have three children from said marriage names are follows, Mary A, Brown wife of Richard Kenner, William Brown and Emma Brown wife of Isaac Brown. My father and mother are now both dead. I give to my said wife Christiana Ann Miller the usufruct during her natural life, of all property real and personal of which I may die possessed and I further appoint my said wife sale Executrix of this Will and Testament, It was thus the foregoing Will and Testament was dictated to me, the said Notary by the said Testator, and by me written down as dictated in the presence of the witnesses, and thereupon in a loud and clear voice, I read the said will to the said Robert Brown who declared that he perfectly understood the same and posited therein all which was done at one time without interruption and without turning aside to other acts and the said testator being requested by me Notary to sign his name to this Will, declared that he knew not how to write and hereunto made his mark in the presence of the said witnesses who hereunto signed
