Houston, Judge New Orleans, August 20th, 1866. I William Rufus Crane residing at 291 Amuciation St corner of Market Street – New Orleans do make this my last Will and Testament Olographic being entirely written, dated, and signed with and in my own handwriting. 1st I will and bequeath to Suzan Ann Saufley my beloved wife all my property and effects real and personal of which I may be possessed as my universal legatee. 2nd I constitute and appoint Suzan Ann Saufley my beloved wife sole executrix of this my last will with all seize and detainer of my estate. Crane Probate Be it remembered that on this 22nd day of may in the year of our lord on thousand eight hundred and eighty three and the 107th of the independence of the United States of America. Upon the application of Mrs. Suzan Ann Saufley widowed and pursuant to my decree bearing every date herewith. Before me W.T. Houston Judge of the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans, personally came and appeared John Ermon and L.S. Rodriguez witnesses, who being duly sworn by me presented with an instrument for writing , written on the first page of a double sheet of blue letter paper, beginning with the following words “New Orleans August 12th 1866 I William Rufus Crane and ending with the following “with full seize and detainer of my estate W.R. Crane and purporting to be his olographic last will and testament which being by me exhibited to the aforesaid witnesses was by them recognized and declared to be entirely written, dated and signed by the testator the said W.R. Crane which they attest having often seen him write and sign during his lifetime, and the said appeared, did hereunto set their hands after due reading hereof, on the day, month and year first above written.
