Transcribed by Tabitha Weekly Guth, Francois - will, 1859 No 16953 Will Filed July 9th, 1860 5th Dec. 1859 Will of Francis Guth United States of America, The State of Louisiana Be it known that on this the fifth day of the month of December in the year of our lord on thousand eight hundred and fifty-nine and the eighty third of the independence of the United States of America. I John French Coffey a notary public in and for the parish of Orleans state aforesaid duly commissioned and sworn was this day called to the residence of Francis Guth situate on Fulton street between Eighth and Ninth streets in the fourth district of the city of New Orleans for the purpose of receiving his last Will and Testament and being at his residence on said day at the hour of eleven o’clock am I there found the said Francis Guth in bed sick but sound in Mind, Memory and Understanding as he appeared to me notary and to Mefars, Francis Ignaz, Blust; Francis Margones and Henry Volirer all above the age of majority and residing in the said fourth district of New Orleans and Expressly called upon by me Notary to act as witnesses to these presents: and the said Francis Guth required of me notary to receive his will which he dictated to me notary as follows: “My Name is Francis Guth; I am a native of Germany; I am nearly seventy years old; I have lived in New Orleans since the year eighteen hundred and twenty nine. My father and mother are both dead. I am now married to Margaret Douth and was married to her in the month of march eighteen hundred and forty one; I have no children; I give and bequeath unto my said wife the said Margaret Guth all that I may possess at the time of my death and I hereby nominate and appoint my said wife Margaret Guth sole executrix of this my last will and testament with full seizin of my estate.” Thus the said Francis Guth dictated his said will to me notary in the presences of said witnesses and of the testator as he dictated the same to me and having read the said will to the said testator declared to me notary in the presence of said witnesses that he understood the same well, that he understood the same well that the same was his last will and testament and he persisted therein done without interruption or turning aside to other acts. I’m testimony where of the said Francis Guth has hereunto signed his name in the presence of the said witnesses and of me.
