Be it known that on this the twenty seventh day of the month of January in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred of fifty six, and the Eightieth year of the Independence of the United States of america, I John French Coffey a Notary Public in and for the Parish of Orleans in the State of Louisiana duly commissioned of and sworn, residing in the Fourth District of the City of New Orleans, in said State, was this day called to the residence of Nicholas Jacques situate on the North corner of Fulton and Ninth Streets in the said Fourth District of new Orleans for the purpose of receiving the last Will and testament of the said Nicolas Jacques: and being at his said residence on the day, in the month and year of aforesaid, about the hour of half past eight O'clock a. m. I there found the said Nicolas Jaques in bed sick, but in full possession of his mental faculties as he appeared to me Notary and the witnesses here in after named & undersigned, and the said Nicolas Jacques proceeded to dictate his will to me notary in the presence of the witnesses here in after named and under signed  "My name is Nicolas Jacques, I am a native of Magney in France. I am now aged about fifty one years, I have been in the United States of America twenty nine years, and twenty three years of which time I have resided in the State of Louisiana. I am now married to Josephine Colean, I have one child a son, named Charles Jacques aged about twelve years, first of said marriage. I give to my said wife Josephine Colean the usufruct during her natural life in case the remains a widow, of all my property, of. what nature or kind soever, and where soever situate that I may possess at the time of my death. But if my said wife should marry again, the usufruct I have here given her shall cease and be given to my said son Charles Jacques. I nominate constitute and appoint my said wife Josephine Colean, sole Executrix of this my last Will and testament with full seizin of my Estate
