Dec 28 17:39:27 1996-----HAYS, DYKES
Parker HAYS born in South Carolina about 1800 was the
father of John A. HAYS born 15 Feb 1822 in Mississippi. Who was John's
mother? Parker HAYS' wife as listed on land documents dated 1837 in Washington
Parish was Rachel DYKES. On succession records of Rachel DYKES' father
(Isaac DYKES) in St. Helena Parish, there were five of Rachel's children
mentioned but John was not included except as an assignee of Mary Nixon.
Parker HAYS later married Eliza DAY. I think he had a first marriage to
John A. HAYS' mother. Who was she?

May 26 21:31:34 1998 --- MILLER
I am looking for information linking one of my grandfathers, VALENTINE
MILLER, a resident of Rapides Parish in the 1850 census to LAWRENCE MILLER,
a resident of St. Helena Parish from circa 1800-1840. Valentine MILLER
married Mary ??? and had children named Daniel, Lawrence, Minerva, Jane
Elizabeth, and Samuel W. (there may have been others). Succession records
in St. Helena Parish indicate that Lawrence had a son named Valentine but
I have no documentation that proves he is the same one that later lived
in Rapides Parish. Valentine's daughter, Jane Elizabeth Miller, married
my grandfather, Joshua Cole. Valentine Miller appears in the 1830 St. Helena
census next door to Lawrence Miller. I found no Valentine Miller entries
for 1840 in Louisiana census data. In 1850 he appears in Rapides Parish
and in 1860 he appears in Rapides Parish with what appears to be a second
wife named Sarah and a son named Thomas. I would appreciate any information
that proves both Valentine Millers are the same and that he is the son
of Lawrence Miller of St. Helena Parish. Also, what was Mary Miller's (Valentine's
wife) maiden name. Any other information on the ancestors of Lawrence Miller
is also desired. Thanks, Barry
