Lethaniel "Butch" Edwards Jr.

Lethaniel "Butch" Edwards Jr. was born to the late Lethaniel Edwards Sr. and Rosemary Morgan Edwards on July 26, 1947 at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, LA. Lethaniel was a native of Laplace, LA and was educated in St. John the Baptist Parish School System. He was a very hard worker and at the age of maturity, he met the love of his life Patricia Ann Moseman. They were married and from that union they were blessed with three children; Troyla, Vernell, and Patricia Edwards. Lethaniel moved to Los Angeles, CA to continue working as a truck driver. He lived several years with his sister the late (Carol Ann Ceasar). He accepted Christ and was baptized in 1973 at Living Way Church in California. Our dad's most notable feature was his hearty laugh. He loved to come up with these silly bits, and funny jokes that made all of us buckle up with laughter. Our dad was the kindest and most gentle person we've ever known. He loved to travel and explore different places. His job allowed him to cover broad territories and he met some amazing people around the world. Lethaniel loved to cook. Gumbo was his favorite dish. He loved to dress and would not buy anything cheap. He knew how to spark a conversation and bring laughter to everyone around. Lethaniel always made it known that one of his biggest accomplishments was being a father. Lethaniel treasured his three children for they were his pride and joy. Lethaniel moved to Houston, TX and continued his career in trucking until he retired. His affable personality afforded him to find life-long friends. He loved his life there and the convenience of having everything he needed in one place. He was well-known, loved and respected by everyone there on Produce Row including his neighbors, the manager at the convenient store and his landlord. They all spoke very highlyL of him and were saddened to hear of his transition. Ms. Vickie Paschal was instrumental in communicating his illness to the family and stepped in to be with him in times of need being that his family was too distant to assist with his daily living activities. We extend our sincere gratitude to Ms. Vickie for her compassion, caring spirit, and countless deeds shown during his illness. We will never forget your unconditional willingness to care for Lethaniel that cannot be measured or forgotten no matter the circumstances. We will always love you!!! On the evening of June 2, 2021 at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, TX, God whispered Lethaniel's name and gently embraced him to prepare for the journey that would lead the way to his eternal resting place. Lethaniel leaves to mourn his daughters, Troyla Keller (Tim) of Reserve, LA and Patricia King (Ricky)of Metairie, LA; sister, Marie Joseph of Laplace, LA; brother, John Daniel Edwards (Irma) of Laplace, LA, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Lethaniel was preceded in death by his parents Lethaniel and Rosemary Edwards, brother Leroy Edwards, sister Carol Ann Ceasar, brother-in-law Wellman Joseph, maternal grand-parents Horace and Victoria Brown; paternal grandparents Daniel and Dora Edwards; his only wife Patricia Ann Wallace and last, his beloved son Vernell Edwards. Lethaniel "Butch" Edwards Jr. will be sorely missed by all those who shared time and space with him. Our love for him will never die and we will hold in our hearts the greatest stories ever told by him close to our hearts forever. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021at Treasures of Life Funeral Services, 315 E. Airline Hwy, Gramercy, LA 70052. Visitation will be from 10am-12pm. Service at 12pm.
