On June 28, 2014, Javon united in marriage to Jerald Hart before their family and close friends. Monday, September 20, 1943 - Sunday, October 10, 2021
Robert was the third child born to the union of the late Clarence Johnson, Sr. and the late Gertrude Schexnayder Johnson on September 20, 1943, in Edgard, LA. Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. On Sunday, October 10, 2021, Robert Johnson transitioned from the Church Militant to the Church Triumphant! Robert, affectionately known as "Bob", was a lifelong resident of Edgard, LA. He was educated in the public school system of St. John the Baptist Parish. He attended Second Ward Elementary and Second Ward High School. Robert was not too fond of school, and decided that he would forgo twelfth grade and seek training to become a welder. He attended the Metal Laboratory School of Welding, where he received high marks and became a certified welder. He progressed up the career ladder as a Welding Foreman and made top dollars at Avondale Shipyard. Robert believed in working hard for his wages. He always wanted the power to buy what he needed and look to good too. He decided to take his skills in welding further and left Avondale Shipyard, and gained employment at Union Carbide Corporation in Taft, LA, as a Millwright Project Lead. He remained employed there until his retirement after 22 + years of service. Robert possessed a bold personality. He had "SWAG!" and a passion for singing. He was just a stone soul singer, and his personality enhanced it even more. It was his God-given gift! He was known for singing lead in a local band called "The Pirates." They sang everywhere in those days, and everybody loved them. It was told that when his sisters, saw how the girls would scream when they heard him sing, they would shake their heads and say, "Ya'll screaming for Robert? Oh Lord, ya'll need to stop! Girls, let's go home." On February 19, 1966, Robert was united in holy matrimony to Aldonia Meggs in St. James, LA. Their union was blessed with 55 wonderful loving years! Their favorite thing to do together as a couple was dance. When they graced the dance floor, they always danced in perfect harmony. Robert and Aldonia would have been perfect on "Dancing With The Stars." God blessed their union with a beautiful daughter, Dawn Nanette. In 1971 at the age of 28, something came over Robert's spirit; He heard the voice of God and surrendered his life to Him. It was on an Easter Sunday morning when he and his oldest brother Clarence Jr. were baptized at the Second African Baptist Church, by the late Rev. L. C. Smith. He sung in a quartet called "The Gospel Silver Tones" along with his brother Solomon. They would travel all around singing the gospel of Jesus Christ. When he had gotten older, Robert recalled that salvation and redemption was his. In later years, he became a member of the New Jerusalem B. C. under the leadership of three pastors, Rev. C. A. Washington, Rev. F. Johnson and Rev. J. Johnson, respectively, where he sang in the choir. His voice would set the Church on a "Holy Ghost Fire" every time he opened his mouth! In 2010, Robert became a member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, Wallace, LA, under the leadership of his brother, Rev. Frank Johnson, where he served in the choir and in whatever capacity needed until his passing. His favorite song was "When The Gates Swing Open." He would sing this song from the very depths of his soul. Robert loved life, nature, the New Orleans Saints and drawing. He enjoyed fishing and always had a tall tale to tell when he would return from his fishing trips. He was the comedian of the family and would have you on the edge of your seat as he told a story. Because he was so meticulous with his appearance, he was also conscious of the cars he drove. It never failed that Robert had a brand-new car each time every sister got married. He had a way of making you feel special when you were in his presence. He gave good advice and didn't bite his tongue when asked his opinion. Robert had a heart of gold and was always ready and willing to help a fellow man. Robert leaves his loving and devoted family to honor his memories; a loving wife, Aldonia M. Johnson; one devoted daughter, Dawn J. Thomas (Donald); one whom he called son, Brian Whittington; grandchildren, Brittney Miller, Delissa Thomas and Devyn Thomas; great-grandchildren, Anthony Phillips, Kassidey Phillips, and Brayden Marshall; three brothers, Clarence Johnson Jr. (Gloria), Solomon Johnson (Sheba) and Rev. Frank Johnson (Shirline); four sisters, Lorraine J. Pierre (Marvin), Marie J. Johnson (Eddie), Belinda J. Powell (Ernest) and Dianne J. Pullen (Clinton, Jr.); Godchild, Donna F. Green; brothers-in-law, Elvin Meggs, Michael Meggs (Alberta), Donald Meggs, and Dwight Meggs; sisters-in law, Almatine Zenon and Judy Cambre (Wilton), and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Johnson, Sr. and Gertrude S. Johnson; brother, Donald Johnson, Sr., and nephew Dwayne Pierre. When God calls home a tired soul, and stills a fitful breath, Love Divine is waiting there; This, too, is BIRTH, not death. Funeral services for Robert "Bob" Johnson will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Historic Bethlehem Baptist Church, 14989 River Road, Hahnville, LA 70057 at 11am. Visitation period from 9am-11am. Entombment to follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery 2439 LA-18, Edgard, LA 70049.

On January 26, 2022, Warren R. Pierre left this world at 79 years of age. Born on September 7, 1942, the pinnacle of Warren's life was his service to God as an ordained Catholic Deacon assigned to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Early in his boyhood, Warren received the call to service but chose to forego the priesthood in favor of love and family. Joining the deaconate was his second chance and for five years, he labored for the privilege. On December 13, 2009, he was ordained by Archbishop Gregory Aymond of the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Prior to joining the ministry, Warren worked at Union Carbide (currently known as Dow) for nearly thirty years, retiring at 55 years old. Warren took pride in his work; but his greatest commitment was to his family. In 1963, he married the love his life, the late Nora Allen Pierre. He crafted a life of service centered on faith in God; commitment to family and "trying to make a difference in the community." Five children were born to Nora and Warren: the late Colette Marie Anderson (Malcolm); Trisha Pierre Cubit (Ernest); Warren Rufus Pierre, II; Atoundra Pierre Lawson (Reginald) and Emile Pierre, I (Nakeisha). He and Nora also helped to raise: Pamela Watson Comminie, Donna Haydel McCall and Lowell Bastain, Jr. A dedicated father and loving husband, Warren was actively engaged in civic activities and was the Vice President and co-founder of PBM Enterprises. Along with his business partners, Warren was the first African American real estate developer in St. John the Baptist Parish. His work with the St. John the Baptist Parish Council and Levee Board led to the building of the Westbank recreational pool located in Edgard, Louisiana. Warren was a trained carpenter having learned his craft from his father, the late Rufus Pierre and work-ethic from his mother the late Anita Burke Pierre. He built the home he raised his family in and many others in the townships of Wallace, Edgard and Lucy. A man of courage, prior to his work as an entrepreneur, carpenter and manage, he worked at Boeing's Michoud Assembly Facility where he helped build Apollo 11- the first spacecraft to land on the moon. An elite team was selected from a national pool of Boeing staff with Warren amongst them. Few African Americans were allowed to participate in the final assembly team of Apollo 11 and though it was an honor, Warren faced intense racial vitriol while living in Coral Gables, Florida. He tolerated the hatred and performed at his best with his efforts forever memorialized at the Smithsonian National Space Museum in Washington, D.C. In 1969, he returned to the comfort of family in Edgard and remained eternally proud of his Pierre/Burke family roots and his upbringing in Tigerville with his siblings: the late Alvin, Darrel (Jennifer) and James (Katherine) Pierre; and the late Glenda Pierre Gaudet (Ronald). In 2019, Warren retired from the deaconate after a decade of service to the people of Edgard working with Fathers Joel Cantones and Robustiano Morgia. He constantly recalled his ministry as a chaplain at the Nelson Coleman Correctional Facility in Hahnville, Louisiana; and, fondly reminisced on his days delivering lively sermons to the congregation of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church until his final hour. He leaves behind eleven grandchildren: Destani Comminie, Ty Forman, William Cubit, Mea Anderson, Ashlyn Boyd, Taylor Cubit, Dillon Cubit, Douglas Lawson, Deacon Lawson, Emile Pierre, II and Chase Pierre; four of his children; two of his brothers; his sister-in-law Marian Bailey (Prescott); his godchildren Byron A. Bailey (Lori) and Channel Cook Zeno (Michael); his nieces and nephews: Darrel, Jr., Meca, Ryan, JP, Jarrett, Jeffrey, Haven, Theory, Lowell, Connie, Donna, Evette, Rose, Leslie, Patrick, TJ, Terrence, AJ, Melinda, Finely, Quincy, Rodney, Natasha, Lavonzel, Byron, Tyler and Karen; and, his brothers in the Archdiocese of New Orleans' Deaconate Class of 2009 along with a host of other loved ones and friends. Warren is preceded in death by his wife; eldest daughter; sister; parents; and his aunts and uncles: Angelina Burke Bailey, Bertha Burke Miller, Theodore Burke, Irving Burke, Sr., Cleveland Burke, Angelina Pierre Faucher, Elizabeth Pierre Bovie, Lawrence Pierre, Charles Burke, Alma Burke and Albert Burke; three nephews: Dwight Bastain, Tyronne Bastain and Gabriel Haydel. WA Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church located at 2349 Highway, Edgard, Louisiana 70049 at 10am; viewing at 8:30am to 9:45am; Rosary at 9am led by Christine Roybiskie.
