Colette Marie Pierre Anderson left this earthly existence on April 16, 2018 at the young age of 54. The eldest daughter of Warren and the late Nora A. Pierre, Colette sought to create a life defined by her own terms. Marriage, family and faith were guiding cornerstones for her life. The greatest joy of her existence was found in the birth of her daughter, Mea Christian Anderson. Colette worked hard to be a devoted and loving mother even in the midst of life's challenges. She treasured every moment with Mea and wanted her to have the best experiences of girlhood. In her professional life, Colette worked as a local political activist. She served as an integral member of the campaign for trailblazing judge, the Honorable Madeline Jasmine. Also, Colette was an active member of the local National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) for many years. She helped in the planning of events to support youth awareness and promote the organization. It was during her years, actively engaged with the NAACP, that she met and married Malcolm Anderson. Colette achieved her dream of having a family with the birth of Mea in the year 2000 after enduring a pregnancy riddled with medical complications. Prior to Mea's birth, Colette worked to lay the foundation for Ande's Bridal Salon as co-owner of the storefront in Plaquemine, Louisiana. The store opened in 1998 and has survived difficult business terrain for the past twenty years. Its success if partly due to Colette's work during its incubation. Her early life included studying at Loyola University in New Orleans where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. While living in New Orleans, Colette had the unique experience of working at the Louisiana World's Fair. She drove the monorail at the World's Fair in the areas now occupied by the Riverwalk and Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. With God, Colette faced and overcame tremendous adversity. She had recently begun to chronicle her experiences in inspirational writings to help others facing difficulties. Her strength was made evident during her last days of life as she continually rallied despite physical frailty. Repeatedly defying medical expectations, Colette was able to bring many people together in loving fellowship and mutual support. She leaves behind her daughter, Mea; her father, Deacon Warren R. Pierre I; siblings: Trisha (Ernest); Warren, II; Atoundra (Reginald) and Emile (Nakeisha); aunts and uncles: James (Katherine), Darrell (Jennifer); Marian (Prescott) and, Jessie Mae (the late Alexander). Her nieces, nephews, friends, aunts and cousins mourn the loss of this uncommon woman. She is preceded in death by her mother, Nora Allen Pierre; grandparents, Rufus and Anita Pierre, Thomas Allen, Sr. and Pearl Bastain; her uncles: Alvin Pierre, Alexander Allen, Sr.; Theophile Haydel, Sr.; Thomas Allen, Jr. and Ronald Gaudet; and her aunts: Priscilla Haydel and Glenda Gaudet. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, April 21, 2018 for 10:00am from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Father Robustiano Morgia, celebrant. Viewing from 8:00am until service time. A leading pioneer in the funeral profession since the early 1980's that inspired many African-American women to pursue a career in the funeral business, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at the age of 63. Since a youth, she was always alongside her father, Earl Baloney, Sr., whom started Earl Baloney & Sons Mortuary. In addition to assisting, she gladly accepted the role of assisting her brother, Earl Baloney, Jr., with his ambulance business that operated within the River Parishes and the greater metropolitan areas. Often times Carmen and Earl, Jr. would be found hanging out at River Parishes Hospital, where they were a social staple amongst the staff and administrators. Carmen's life was devoted to caring for others, whether as an EMT or Funeral Director, but especially her own loved ones whom she showered and often times spoiled until they didn't want to return back to their parents, especially Markus and Malik Baloney. Many road trips, party functions, and daily lessons of shopping were some of the most talked about subjects while in the company of Carmen. Her infectious smile was something that predominated her character. While we all have bad days, Carmen just seemed to embrace times like that and persevered through with a positive spirit. As often as she was seen on funeral services and on the ambulance with her brother, Carmen still found time to raise her nieces and nephews, even with the birth of her own son, Coi Baloney. Carmen was also accompanied in the funeral profession with her sister-in-law and close friend, Shelia G. Baloney, whom people referred to as ""Dem Girls"" on funerals and in the public setting. After the passing of Earl, Sr. and Jr., Carmen gladly embraced the role as General Manager of Earl Baloney & Sons Mortuary, later renamed The Baloney Funeral Home, where her brother Carl, Sr., Shelia, and nephews Malik, Markus, and Courtney Baloney all worked. She later moved from her position to care for her mother, Ophelia Baloney, until the time of her passing, making her the new matriarch of the Baloney Family Legacy. While not just a socialite in the community, she also served the community through the St. John Parish Planning and Zoning. She was the social fabric that glued families together, especially her own. During her mother's sickness she was touched with the culinary hands of her mother and gladly accepted the role of Ophelia Baloney ""Greatest Cook in the World"". She would often prepare large dishes and ship to relatives afar and near and even the sick and homeless. A pure heart of gold and character of greatness in her right of passion and comfort was a gift from God. During the later years, as The Baloney Family Legacy evolved, she joined her nephew, Courtney G. Baloney in the third generation of excellence within the funeral profession with the opening of Treasures of Life Center for Life Funeral Services in Gramercy, LA, where she was employed until the time of her passing. Within the last eight years she found herself again raising her loved one's kids with the addition of her baby sister, Alona McDowell, two sons, Conner and Cole, whom she took pride in caring for, just like the rest of her nieces and nephews who were spoiled previously. It was not until the birth of her grandchild when she really could say she was ""Nana"" and she showed it to the world when baby boy Mason Avery Baloney was born. Carmen's memory lives on forever and continuing life in her spirit is her son Coi A. Baloney (Teddricka Hawthorne), grandson, Mason A. Baloney, sister Alona B. McDowell (Chester), sister-in-law Shelia G. Baloney, former sister-in-law Emma Jean Baloney, nieces Valerie Baloney Johnson (Zolton), Colette B. Choates,(Clifford, Sr.) Yvette B. Perrilloux (Kenneth), Helaine Baloney, nephews Malik Baloney (Lynette Davis), Markus Baloney, Courtney Baloney (Julie Jack), Carl Baloney, Jr., a devoted great aunt Rose B. Alexander and a brother from another mother Harold L. Sterling, Sr. along with a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Earl Baloney, Sr. and Ophelia Borne Baloney, brothers Earl, Jr. and Carl Baloney, Sr. and niece Stephanie B. Pryor. Friends of the community along with a special invitation to St. John Parish Planning and Zoning, Dillard University Alumni, Edgard Class of '72, St. Augustine High School Booster Club and Alumni, are invited to a public viewing on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at First Community Antioch Baptist Church, 10860 LA-3125, Lutcher, LA 70071 from 3:00pm - 6:00pm. There will be a celebration of her wonderful life on Monday, July 15, 2019 at St. John the Baptist Parish Community Center, 2900 US-51, Laplace, LA 70068. Mark Owen Falgoust, 80, of Norco, LA passed away peacefully on Thursday May 3rd, 2018 at East Jefferson General Hospital. Mark and his loving sister Barbara were born in Reserve, LA to Nash and Leone Falgoust. Mark was a stand-out athlete at Reserve High School where he played baseball, basketball and was an all-District selection and Team Captain of the football team his senior year. In his last year of high school, Mark and Janet Perilloux were honored by being chosen Homecoming King and Queen. Upon graduation, his stated goal was to become "President of the United States!" Although he never reached that lofty expectation, what followed in the next sixty plus years was far more fulfilling. Shortly after high school, Mark began working fulltime for American Cyanamid and married Janet. They were blessed to give birth to two healthy boys- Barry and Scott Falgoust. It was during this time that he developed some of his lifelong passions: LSU football, golf and carpentry. For a short period of time in the late 1970's, he owned a construction company. Several of the structures that he built are still standing in the River Parishes today. (A true testament to the man's creativity long after he is gone!) It was during the 1970's that Mark married his second wife Nancy, and they gave birth to his youngest son, Paul Falgoust. As he transitioned from the contracting business to Purchasing Manager for Cytec Industries in the latter part of his work career, Mark discovered what would give him his greatest joy in life-his grandchildren and great grandchildren. "Pops", as he was called by his grandchildren, always spoke of them with great pride in their accomplishments and loved seeing all of them during the holidays and at birthday parties. While he often lamented the fading of his Elvis-like good looks (and his hairline!), the thought of his grandchildren always put a smile on his face! As he settled into his twilight years, we would often share a bourbon while watching an LSU football game and he would reminisce about his life and his family. He always hoped that we knew how much he loved and cared for all of us and that we not worry about him because he had a good, full life. Yes, "Pops", you sure did have a good life! We will always love and remember you! Mark is pre-deceased by his parents Nash and Leone Falgoust. He will forever be remembered by his sister Barbara, his children Barry (Judy), Scott (Lana) and Paul (Linda), by his grandchildren Lesley (Robert), Brett (Alexis), Lindsey (Blake), Michelle and Chris and by his great-grandchildren Averie and Lily. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and cousins as well. And of course, his beloved dog, "Rooster", will always miss his master. Please join us in honoring the memory of Mark on Saturday May 19th at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home where a memorial service will be held from 9-11 am. Millet-Guidry Funeral Home is located at 2806 West Airline Highway, LaPlace, LA 70068. Tel: (985)-536-7700. Flowers are always welcome, but if you would really like to honor the memory of Mark Falgoust,
