Robert "Bobby" H. Catton, age 82, passed away quietly May 20, 2020 relaxing in his favorite porch rocking chair at his home. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years Carolyn Alack Catton, his devoted son Robert "Robbie" M. Catton, and daughter Deborah "Debbie" Byrns, dear friend Paul Schultz, stepson Richard Lemoine, and stepdaughter Suzie Englade, plus others of his extended family, and an elder brother, Raymond. He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond M. Catton and Marion Dours Catton; plus three brothers - Patrick, Michael, and Louis - in addition to a previous wife, Jackie Hammer Catton. From early in life his energy, his determination, and his physical prowess translated into a remarkable skill in competitive sports, especially in football and baseball, where he displayed rare talent, so much so that in High school he was selected football first string All American by national sports figure and commentator Zack Mosely. But baseball was his preference, and upon graduation he began college at Southeast Louisiana Institute and was its baseball team's catcher. He left after one year and yielded to the call of the professional leagues and signed up with the Dodgers where he caught for another seven years in the upper divisions. He then left professional baseball and returned to college to finish his baccalaureate work and receive a Bachelor's degree in Education! For the next forty years he taught and served as Athletic Director/Coach at chosen schools in the area. His many devoted former students know the rest of the story, but likely not so well as his closest friends and loving family who were so proud to have such a rare person - indeed a champion - as a part of their lives; a pride they will never forget.
And today we can all still lustily cheer our champion forth, but this time with the assurance that upon his hearing so will now relax in a more peaceful sleep.

Peggy was a true witness for Christ spending her entire life teaching and sharing her faith in the Lord. Her devotion to Adoration, Chaplet of Mercy and Scripture were constant. When confronted with a problem, her response would be to offer it up as a sacrifice for our savior and encourage her family to pray about whatever issue. She began saying the rosary before Masses at St Peter Catholic Church and also helped the hard of hearing by signing the mass. Her family will remember her love for singing, dancing and Miller Lite in a frosty mug. She loved ice cream, Russell Stovers, which she saved for a "hard moment", and always made sure she had a drink and fries for her trip to the city. She was an avid seamstress and a self taught painter. She loved crafting and made an amazing praline. But more than anything else in life, she loved her family and her husband of 52 years. She will be greatly missed.

For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them that love his appearing.

Joslyn Finis Jasmine was born on December 23, 1954 in New Orleans, LA to the union of the late Thomas "Papa" Jasmine and Lillian Sylvain Jasmine. She was baptized at New Jerusalem Baptist Church at an early age by the late Reverend C.A. Washington. She was always active in the church beginning in the youth choir and later joining the usher board where she served faithfully. She also served as the Director of the After-School Tutorial program. Joslyn, affectionately called Buddie, welcomed all into the house of the Lord with a smile and could always be found in the kitchen helping to serve guests for special programs. Joslyn was educated in the St. John the Baptist Parish School System graduating from Second Ward High School in 1972. She was a proud Jaguar having graduated from Southern University, Baton Rouge in Education. Following graduation, Joslyn was employed by St. John the Baptist Parish School System, teaching at various schools within the parish. She retired after 35 years of dedicated service. Because of her dedication, years after her retirement, she returned to the classroom, first as a volunteer and later as a Prevention Specialist with Thoughts Before Actions, focusing on the social development of elementary/middle school children. Joslyn was united in holy matrimony to the late Anthony L. Gastearl, Sr. on October 27, 2001. Prior to their marriage, she willingly accepted the role and became mother to Anthony L. Gastearl, Jr. preparing her for the subsequent birth of her son Kaliff Monte Gastearl. As much as Joslyn enjoyed being a mom, she cherished her role as grandmother to Naheim, Nalaeya, Kruz, Nasiah and Cassidy. She lit up whenever she heard "Nanna" as she was affectionately called.
Joslyn was an avid West St. John High fan, especially football and basketball. She rarely missed a game and could be heard clear across the field/gym. As much as she loved WSJH, she loved supporting family in sports, whatever school they represented. Just last month she travelled to Lake Charles to cheer her nephew's team, Hahnville High Basketball, in semi-finals.
As the baby of the family, Joslyn decided it was her job to take care of her siblings and became their self-appointed caregiver. She was very dedicated in the care of family members during critical illnesses and became the transport system for other family members' medical appointments. Following the death of her sister-in-law, Joslyn travelled to Maryland several times until she convinced her brother to move home so she could care for them as only she could. Taking care of people was second nature to her. Even though she only had two sons, she was MOM to many, welcoming them into her home and her heart. She enjoyed cooking and being around family. Joslyn hosted the family's New Year's Day celebration where any and everything could be found to eat. She lovingly prepared most if not all the dishes served and not only did you leave stuffed, you left with to go plates. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends and travelling. Joslyn never met a stranger, making lifelong friends along her journeys. She was Godmother to Elijah Jasmine, Stasha James, Nalaysha Wright, Ariana Bethancourt, Keri Groover, Patrick Johnson, Prentiss Anderson and Kerrion Williams. Joslyn leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Anthony, Jr. (Keena) and Kaliff. Sunday, May 4th, 1947 - Thursday, April 2nd, 2020
Whitney "Bear" Scott began his life journey on May 4, 1947 in Garyville, LA. He was the son of the late Virginia Duhe-Sarah and the late Marshall Scott. On July 19, 1980, Whitney married Yvonne Hansley. Whitney enjoyed being surrounded by those who knew him most. He enjoyed family and friends, mostly just clowning and passing time. "Bear" would have you laughing endlessly or until your side would start to hurt. He was truly a blessing to everyone. He had a very different way with words, if you can catch my drift. He held no punches, nor did he hold his tongue. We will truly miss his sense of humor. Whitney realized that this earth was no longer his home and was called to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, April 2, 2020. His legacy continues to live through his children: Carey Edwards of New Orleans, LA, Kendrick Scott, Sr. of LaPlace, LA, Carisa (Mark) Russell of Paulina, LA and Keantrielle Woods of Kenner, LA; grandchildren: Darielle Russell, Eva Johnson, Kendrinecia Scott, Kendrick Scott, Jr., and Keilah Scott; brothers and sisters: Lawrence Sarah, Walter Scott, Linda Walker and Carol Williams.
Whitney is preceded in death by his parents Virginia Duhe-Sarah and Marshall Scott, brothers: Morris Sarah and Joseph Scott, and sister Joyce Weston.
