My mother is Ella Hughes.
She lives in Husser and has written several Genealogy books and searched most cemeteries and public records in Louisiana and Mississippi.
She knows something about all the names in Tangipahoa/Amite/Husser/etc, etc.
She doesn't use the internet, she is about 90, BUT, you can contact her at 504-748-8261 or me at pathug@cox.net.
Specific names she often mentions are; VARNADOES, DePHILLIPS, AUSTINS, REIDS, HUSSERS, JOINERS, DRUDES, BELLS, etc, etc.
I am not into Genealogy and can't remember any of this stuff, but she should be able to help.
The books she has written may include exactly what you are looking for.

I am searching for information on
Samuel R. HUGHES, b. May 25, 1816 possibly in
Logan County, KY, d. abt. 1848 unknown. He was
married November 17, 1836 in St Helena Parish,
Louisiana to Jemima Oldham FLUKER, daughter of
Robert W. FLUKER and Susan KENDRICK. Two children
were born of this union, Samuel Fluker HUGHES and
Jemima O. HUGHES. His wife died while the children
were young and so, apparently, did he, although I
can find no record of his death. It would seem
that no one is researching the FLUKER family, and
when I saw that there was a town named Fluker in
Louisiana, I thought perhaps this would be a good
place to go looking!
