Mrs. C. O. Garris, 84, Succumbs After Brief Illness

Last rites for Mrs. C. O. Garris, 84, of Winnfield, who died in a local
hospital at 3:40 a.m. June 9, were held at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist
Church with the pastor, Dr. W. L. Holcomb officiating.  Assisting with the
service was the Rev. Charles Duncan.  Burial followed in the Winnfield
Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers were Doris Warner, Robert Lee Dunn, Harper Terrill, E.
J. Buchanan, Eddie Powell, and Harwell Allen.

Mrs. Garris was a native of Claiborne Parish and had lived in Winn Parish for
the past 55 years.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Order
of Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband, C. O. Garris, Winnfield; three sons, B. C.
Garris, Minden, C. C. Garris, Shreveport, and A. E. Garris, Winnfield.  One
daughter, Mrs. H. A. Porter, Winnfield; and one sister, Mrs. R. J. Lasyone,
Verda; nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
