Lowery, 17, of Gansville, was recovered from Saline Lake Saturday afternoon, March 19. Lowery was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Lowery of Gansville. His body was found about 1 « hours after he was apparently thrown form his boat. According to Winn Parish Sheriff's deputies, Lowery was returning to shore alone in his 14-foot aluminum motorboat when waves from another boat reached his boat and he was thrown into the water. Chet Ramsey, 21, of Chatham, told deputies that he looked back just as Lowery disappeared under the water. Ramsey said he returned to the spot and he and other boaters nearby tried unsuccessfully to rescue Lowery. They could not find Lowery, who was reported to be unable to swim and not wearing a life jacket. The young man's body was recovered about 1:20 p.m. in nine feet of water, 250 yards from the shore near the south end of Saline Lake.
