News of Death of Mrs. S. L. Morris Is Learned Here

News of the death of Mrs. Morris, 86, wife of the late Dr. S. L. Morris,
former pastor of the Winnfield Baptist Church and editor of The Guardian, a
publication issued in Winnfield in the late 1800s and early 1900s, was
received recently by Mrs. Mack L. Branch of Winnfield.

Until her health failed a few years ago, Mrs. Morris was a regular visitor in
Winnfield each year, as the guest of Mrs. Branch. She had many friends in
this section.

When Dr. and Mrs. Morris left Winnfield, they moved to Atlanta, Ga., where
they changed the name of their publication to the Baptist Forum, which he
edited for some time. In later years they made their home in Jackson, Miss.,
where Mr. Morris' death occurred July 31.
