Davies Date Submitted: Aug. 05, 2000 C. P. Terry Of Winnfield Drowns In Saline Lake The body of C. P. Terry, 42, who drowned in Saline Lake Saturday morning at 6:15, was recovered from the lake at 4 p.m. that afternoon approximately 30 feet from where the boat he was in turned over. Mr. Terry, maintenance foreman of the Solvay Process Co., and two companions, G. S. Ham and Lionel Boone, also employees of the Solvay Company, set out early Saturday morning for a hunting trip on the lake, and their boat capsized a short distance from shore when the men tried to dislodge it from a stump. This occurred before daylight. Mr. Ham stated that he came to the surface and managed to swim to a log and when Mr. Boone came to the surface he helped him to the log. Together they called to Mr. Terry who answered their first call but the darkness and heavy fog prevented them from locating him. Terry wore hip boots and a heavy hunting jacket, in which he carried his shells. Ham swam to shore for help. Terry, who is a native of South Louisiana, has been employed by Solvay for about six years. The funeral cortege left here Sunday at 10 a.m. and proceeded to Kentwood, La., where the last rites and burial occurred. Surviving are his wife of Winnfield; his mother, Mrs. C. P. Terry, Sr., of Kentwood, La.; one brother, Joe Terry of Kentwood; and six sisters, Mrs. Phillip Arnold and Mrs. Dell Brumfield of Baton Rouge; Mrs. M. M. Williams, Kentwood; Mrs. L. E. Nrisblarn, Chicago; and Mrs. A. E. Thomas, New Orleans.
