M. Townsend of Winnfield, was fatally injured Friday, September 10, in Lamesa, Texas, when a car leaped a curb and hit her while she was riding a tricycle on the sidewalk in front of her home. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Ray Townsend who only recently moved from Winnfield to Texas. Two Latin-American boys, one 13 and one 12, were later taken into custody for questioning in connection with the accident. The 13 year old youth was reported to be driving the car at the time of the tragic death. He and his 12 year old companion were reported to have taken the car without permission from the owner, a brother to the older boy. Unable to handle the car properly, the driver lost control, resulting in the curb leap and the death of Charlotte Ann.
