POLICE JURY PROCEEDING

Crowley Signal January 27, 1900

The police jury met in regular session at Crowley on January 23, 1900

The petition of citizens of the Fourth ward asking for an appropriation of $150 was duly read and motion of Adam Reed, duly seconded, by Dr. Geo. E. Brooks, Dr. Leon A. Clark and Rev. Father Gassler were appointed a committee to have said work [does not say what work] done as cheaply as possible, but not to exceed said sum of $150, to be paid out of the general improvement funds of 1900.

Motion J.E. Daigle appointed a committee to lay out road from E. Staggs southwest corner to T.C. Chacheres southeast corner, is hereby discharged, having failed to report, and in stead thereof the following committee was appointed to wit: Edmond Amy, T.N. Ross, O.K. Brunson, Robt. Sittig, Silvan Bendick, Lastie Lavergne and C.A. Ledoux.

Petition from Gustave Thibodeaux, Hornsby, et als., asking for a public road was duly considered and to be found to be a private nature and was rejected.

Motion of Adam Reed, committee appointed to lay out a road from the east to the west line of township 8 South, Range 1 west, starting from the meridian line, running west between sections 13 and 24 to between sections 18 and 19, also a half mile in section 21, on half section line north and south, to wit: H.J. Daigle, Dallas Greene, Gerasine Pouson, Gaudens Pousson, Dutrive Miller, Samuel Cart, Sr. and Fernest Daigle.

Petition of citizens of Fourth ward asking for change of road was read and on motion of Adam Reed same was accepted, and the donation of G.H. Shrove and Joseph Leger was accepted and recorded, and Alex Dartez is hereby appointed overseer of said road.

On motion Julia Comeaux was placed on the indigent list.

On motion of Cesaire Breaux, duly seconded and carried. J.E. Barry, Esq., was hereby authorized and requested to make a legal tender to Euphremon Mire of the amount assessed as damages and value of his land, as ascertained by a committee appointed November 14, 1898, with a view of appropriating his land for public road purposes.

Notice of transfer of Chas. Matt to Francois Savoy was duly acknowledge and notice of transfer of Moise Arceneaux to E.O. Bruner for salary of 1899.
