DISTRICT COURT CASES

Crowley Signal November 20, 1929

JUROR’S ILNESS DELAYS TRIAL OF CARRIERE TODAY - Illness of one of the five jurors hearing the case of Noah Carriere, Church Point policeman charged with shooting with intent to kill, today had caused a delay in the trial.

A.J. Bazerque of Crowley failed to report for jury service this morning after hearing, with Hines Miers, Andrew Howard Dorr and Whitney Derouen heard the testimony in the case of the assistant police chief accused of having shot Arsene Boudreaux near the door of the jail after the latter, reports said, had tried to escape the officers who had just taken him into custody on a minor charge.

Consideration of the evidence and testimony had been about concluded. After Judge W.W. Bailey had received a report from Bazerque’s physician stating that he would probably be able to report Thursday morning, he set the case for 9 a.m.

Leonce Menard, charged with carnal knowledge, was being tried today.

November 8, 1929 True and Not True Bills. The cases were disposed of during the week of November 15, 1929
