Daigle Mrs. Gonzales, 104, Dies (from Donaldsonville Chief) Mrs. Josephine Gonzales, a native of Ascension parish and a resident of the city of New Orleans for the past 30 years, died Tuesday at 9:50 o'clock a.m. at the Charity hospital at the advanced age of 104 years. Death is said to have been due to complications arising from a fall five days before at her residence, 1123 Thalia Street. Mrs. Gonzales, nee Josephine Hidalgo, was the wife of the late Manuel Joseph Gonzales. She was very active all her life and it is said that less than a year ago she stepped into a beauty parlor for the first permanent wave of her life. In an interview last year, she is said to have complained playfully that "the younger generation doesn't give it's parents enough freedom", adding that "every time I want to go to a picture show, I have to ___ out of the back door". She would have been 105 years old in March.
