E.J. "NOOK1E" FANGUY: Killed in helicopter crash Saturday.

A Halliburton official today identified the only fatality of the crash
as Edwin Joseph "Nookie" Fanguy, 48, of Houma.

Fanguy, the only fatality in the crash, was a special operator with
Halliburton Services and had started working for the company in August
1954 as a cement equipment operator.

He was promoted to cementer, then to tool operator and finally to
special operator.

A spokesman for the company said that Fanguy's job "was no more
dangerous than any other oil field job ... no more hassle than getting
back, to and forth from the rigs."

"He was a quite fellow well liked. He didn't make any waves," the
company supervisor said.

Funeral and visitation services for Houma native and resident were held
at the Chauvin Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial was in St. Francis de Sales cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Crochete Fanguy; his mother, Lula
Duplantis Fanguy; three sons, Terry, Mark and Edwin Fanguy, all of
Houma; one daughter, Mrs. James (Wendy) Rogers, of Houma; one sister,
Mrs. Roy (Leona) Crochete, of Houma; and four grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father, Edwin Noah Fanguy.

Chauvin Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
