Jan 3, 1982 Anne Collins Mackey Dead at 38 Anne Clark Collins Mackey, 38, a native of Houma and resident of Jackson, Miss., died Saturday after a long illness. She was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. S. Clark Collins of Houma. Educated at Terrebonne High School, Mrs. Mackey went on to receive her bachelor's degree in education from Newcomb College. During her college years, she also attended Nicholls State University. Upon graduating from Newcomb, she taught handicapped and exceptional children in one of the first special education programs within the New Orleans public school system. In 1972 she married Oscar Mackey, a Jackson, Miss., lawyer, and moved to Jackson. There she taught kindergarten and also concentrated on helping handicapped students within the regular school system. She also bore two children, a boy and a girl. "People were her hobby," said her mother. "She did a lot of things, horseback riding, camp work in North Carolina. She loved Houma and had a lot of good friends here." Funeral arrangements for Mrs. Mackey are incomplete as of press time. The funeral will probably be Monday in Houma, depending on whether relatives can make appropriate travel arrangements. Chauvin Funeral Home Inc. of Houma is handling the arrangements.
