Nov 26, 1982 Dan Smith Dan Frank Smith, 72, a native of Oil City, La. and a resident of Terrebonne Parish for 50 years, died at 6:15 p.m. Thursday in Terrebonne General Hospital. One of the first oilmen for Texaco in Houma, Smith served 21 years with the company. Before retiring in 1965, he was district superintendent with Texas Crude and an independent consultant with A-Z International Tool Co. A member of First United Methodist Church, he served upon the finance committee and the church's board of supervisors. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Houma Golf Club. Visitation will be from 7 until 9 p.m., today and from 8 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at the funeral home. The funeral will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Chauvin Funeral Home with religious services following at First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Terrebonne Mausoleum. Survivors include his wife, Winnie Land Smith, and one sister, Melba McNamara of Bossier City. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Julia Smith. Chauvin Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
