Oct 19, 1982 Ella Pettigrew Ella Hoffman Pettigrew, 97, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Houma, died 5:10 p.m., Monday. A board member in assistance to the Terrebonne Parish Agricultural and Home Economics Department, Mrs. Pettigrew was also active in many organizations. The Terrebonne Garden Club, Louisiana Garden Club Federation, American Hemerocallis Society, American Iris Society, Louisiana Society for Horticulture Research, Terrebonne Bird Club, Louisiana Landmark Society, La Petite Theatre de Terrebonne, Terrebonne Parish Literary Club, The Forum, Houma Community Concert Association, The Red Cross, and a member of the Parent-Teacher Association. Active in judging flower shows in the surrounding areas, Mrs. Pettigrew, after several years of study and training, acquired a certificate as an accredited National Flower Show Judge. Visitation will be 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. today at the Chauvin Funeral Home and resume 9 a.m. Wednesday until funeral time. The funeral will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the Magnolia Cemetery. Rev. George Terrell of First Baptist Church will conduct services. Survivors include one son, Sistrick Judge Ashby William Pettigrew Jr. of Houma; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ashby William Pettigrew; her parents, Alice Rapp and William Henry Hoffman; and one daughter, Dorothy Vernon Pettigrew. Chauvin Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
