Sep 19, 1982 Vernon Oubre Jr. Vernon "V.J." Joseph Oubre Jr., 56, a native and resident of Houma died at 8:10 p.m. Friday. He was a shop supervisor for Cajan Directional Drilling. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until funeral time Monday at the funeral home. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Una Ruth Bergeron Oubre; one son, Cpl. Vernon Francis Oubre of Okinawa, Japan; one daughter, Mrs. Ricardo (Tammy) Domingue of Houma; three brothers, Richard and Howard Oubre, both of Houma, and Vernon Joseph Oubre of Gretna; five sisters, Mrs. Kerregan (Betty) Ledet and Mrs. Murphy (Mamie) Breaux, both of Houma, Mrs. Roy (Judy) Grammer of New Orleans, Mrs. Giles (Marie) Padet of San Antonio, Texas and Mrs. Cecil (Sadie) Hawes of Marrero; two stepsons, Gerald David Guidroz and Eugene Louis Guidroz Jr., both of Houma; two step-daughters, Mrs. Larry (Judy) Robichaux and Mrs. Larry (Kathleen) Cavanna, both of Bayou Blue; and 14 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Olivia Darcey and Vernon Joseph Oubre Sr.; one brother, Walter Oubre; and one sister, Eleanor Roth. Chauvin Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
