Submitted by: Chris Tidwell Mrs. Landry dies today. [Althae Marie 'Toots' Landry] Althae Marie 'Toots' Landry, wife of parish Clerk of Court Ambroise Landry and mother of state Sen. Ron Landry, died early today after a long illness. Mrs. Landry died in Thibodaux General Hosepital at 2:05 a.m. She was 67. The Landry family has asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Landry was active in several civic and social organizations, holding membership with the Thibodaux General Hospital Auxiliary, the Naorth Thibodaux Fire Co. No. 1 Auxiliary, Thibodaux Memorial VFW Post 5097 Auxiliary, Ferdinand Lefort American Legion Post 11 Auxiliary and Court Anna Maria No. 993, Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Mrs. Landry, a Thibodaux area native, was born Oct. 18, 1916. Her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter Clement. She and Ambroise Landry were married May 12, 1938, beginning more than 45 years together. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux with interment in the church cemetery. Landry Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Visitation will be today from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to funeral time. Mrs. Landry is survived by her husband and four of their children; Sen. Ron J. Landry of Laplace; David L. Landry, a Tibodaux attorney; Dr. Barry G. Landry of New Orleans; and Mrs. Gregory Champagne of Luling. One son, Linus A. Landry, preceded her in death. She is also survived by two sisters and three brothers; Mrs. Joseph Folse of Harvey and Mrs. Richard Bouterie of Morgan City; and Walter Clement Jr. of Thibodaux, Ray J. Clement of Thibodaux and Edward J. Clement of Seattle, Wash. Six grandchildren also survive.
