Funeral Tuesday for businessman

[William W. Herpel] Funeral services for Thibodaux businessman William
W. Herpel will be held Tuesday morning at St. John's Episcopal Church.
He died Sunday at 2:10 pin. following a lengthy illness. Herpel was
president of Mattingly Tractor Company and a president of Deep South
Farm, an association for equipment dealers. In addition, he served as
trustee in the reorganization of the Jax Brewery and Multiphonics, Inc.
of New Orleans and was a member of the board of directors of Citizens
Bank and Trust Company of Thibodaux. A graduate of the University of
Texas, Herpel came to Thibodaux as a geologist with Humble Oil Company.
He was married to the late Peggy Mattingly Herpel and is survived by a
daughter Peggy Ann Baumann of Del Rio, Tex., sons George and William of
Thibodaux, a sister Elizabeth Beckmann and four grandchildren. Religious
services have been scheduled for 11 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church
with interment in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from If to
11 a.m. Tuesday at Landry's Funeral Home.
