Velma Francis Lyles

Wake and funeral eulogy services have been scheduled for 8 p.m. today at
St. John Institutional Missionary Baptist Church in New Orleans for
Velma Francis Lyles, 68, a native of Napoleonville and a resident of New
Orleans for the past 43 years, who died at 11:58 p.m. Friday.

Dismissal will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in Napoleonville and funeral
services will be at St. John Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.

She was the wife of Joseph Lyles; mother of Doretha Young; and the
sister of Mrs. Carry Gustave of Los Angeles, Calif., Ruby Morrison,
John, Lloyd and Isiah Francis.

She is also survived by four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Janice H. Whickham; her parents,
Willie and Emma Riley Francis; and two brothers, Oscar Della and Joseph
Francis. Dorothy Lawless is handling arrangements.
