Eddie Smith

Funeral services have been scheduled for Thursday at noon from St. Luke
Baptist Church in Moonshine for Eddie "Nig" Smith, 53, of St. James who
died at Charity Hospital in New Orleans Thursday at 3p.m.

He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Thomas Smith; step-mother, Jessie
Mae Smith; sons, Bertrand and Torey Smith of St. James, Eddie Johnson of
Los Angeles, Calif., Leroy and Floyd Johnson of Patterson, Pernell Smith
of Oakland, Calif.; daughter, Sandra Smith of St. James; brothers,
Stafford Smith of Chicago, Ill., Ereller Paul, Ernest Jr., Steve and
Nolan Smith of St. James, Larry and Sherman Smith of New Orleans;
sisters, Amelia Jones, Edna Mae Smith, Phyllis Champagne, Ruth Joseph
and Faye Chopin, of St. James, Gayle Syles of La Place; and seven
grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Sr. and Edna Smith.

Interment is in the church cemetery.

Wake services are scheduled for tonight at 8:30 from the church.

Visitation is to be at the church after 5 p.m. Earl Baloney and Sons is
in charge of arrangements.
