Josephine Charles

Funeral services are scheduled for noon Saturday at St. Luke Baptist
Church, Moonshine, for Josephine Charles, 86, a native and resident of
St. James who died Monday.

Wake services are scheduled for 8 p.m. today at the church. Interment
will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is scheduled to begin after 5
p.m.

She was the mother of Ruth Kelly of New Orleans, Herbert Charles of Los
Angeles, Calif., Arthur Charles of New Orleans, Eula Mae Henry, Sophia
Mae Landry, Irma Dennis, Deloris Mayho, Herman, Charles and Albert
Charles, all of St. James, and Joseph Charles of Marrero; step mother of
Howard Charles of Gretna and Louise Sands of Sacramento, Calif.; and
sister of Pearl Rankins, Enola Johnson and Albert Morton.

She is also survived by 79 grandchildren, 138 great-grandchildren and 10
great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Charles; her parents,
Sophia and Robert Morton; four sons, Frank Jr., Ford, Floyd and James
Charles; two sisters, Publiska James and Olivia Harper; and four
brothers, Joseph, James, Noble and Octave Morton.Earl Baloney and Sons
funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
