Alma Shanklin
Funeral services are scheduled at 8 p.m. today at Greater St. James Baptist
Church in Baton Rouge for Alma E. Shanklin, a native of Thibodaux and
resident of Baton Rouge, who died Wednesday at 11:45 p.m.Visitation is from
1 p.m. until 4 p.m. today at Desselle Funeral Home in Baton Rouge. Dismissal
is scheduled at 10 a.m. Wednesday with interment in Southern Memorial
Gardens.She was the mother of Kate Estelle Shanklin and Lionel Shanklin Jr.,
both of Baton Rouge; and sister of John C. Williams, Laura W. Burrell,
Theresa W. Carter, Georgette W. Johnson, Omae W. Richardson, Mercedes W.
Brown and Symentha Williams. She is also survived by two grandchildren.She
was preceded in death by her husband, Lionel Shanklin; parents, Anna P. and,
Alphonse Williams; brother, Herman Williams; and sister, Thelma Williams.
