Antoine Dufrene
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Community Assembly of
God Church in Bayou Gauche for Antoine J. Dufrene, 91, a native of Des
Allemands and resident of Waggaman, who died Wednesday at 6 a.m.Visitation
is from 6 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until funeral time Friday at the
church. Interment is in Sunset Cemetery.He was the father of Antoine Jr.,
Alcide Dufrene, Hazel Piatt, Effie Sampey, Catherine C. Rome and Shirley
Margerago; stepfather of Nelvin Samuel and Calvin Dufrene, Bernice Dufrene
and Gladys Matherne. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 24
great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.He was preceded in
death by his first wife, Esther Comardelle; second wife, Josephine Frickey;
stepsons, Jeffrey and Chester Dufrene.; stepdaughter, Nellie Comardelle;
parents, Louis and Elizabeth T. Dufrene; brothers, Felix, Joe, Clarence and
Andrew Dufrene; and sisters, Mary Matherne, Victoria Dunn, Ophelia Rogers
and Louisa Schoolmeyer
