Georgia Coy
Memorial services were held today in Hot Springs Village, Ark. for Georgia
L.
Coy, a native of Potosi, Mo., who died Thursday after a brief illness.
Interment is in Concordia Cemetery, in St. Louis, Mo.
She is survived by one nephew, Arthur "Bud" Coy of Potosi, Mo.
She graduated from Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. and served in the U.S.
Navy Nurse Corps during World War II. She earned a B.S.N. from LSU School of
Nursing and a Master's degree from Nicholls State University.
She was an Assistant Professor in the Nursing Department at Nicholls State
University until her retirement in 1981. She was an active member of the
Thibodaux District Nurses Association and the Louisiana Heart Association,
having been a director of the Houma office prior to moving to Arkansas. She
was
also an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Houma.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Heart
Association.
