All rights reserved. ============================================================================ December 24. 2005 1:45AM Evelyn Bosworth Evelyn Western Bosworth, 93, a native of New Orleans and resident of Thibo-daux, died at 9:21 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Monday at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Gerald A. Bosworth and wife, Aundeen, and Joseph O. Bosworth and wife, Jo Ann; three daughters, Mary Grace Moore, Joan B. Pitre and husband, Earl, and Elizabeth B. Plessala and husband, Stan; two brothers, Harold J. Western and William Western; one sister, Ottilie W. Damore; four stepchildren, Frederick T. Bosworth, Charles A. Bosworth, George L. Bosworth and Eugene C. Bosworth; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick A. Bosworth; her parents, Frederick S. Western and Mary Bonning Western; two brothers, Frederick S. Western Jr. and Lloyd R. Western; two sisters, Edith W. Tolx and Doris W. Tate; and two stepchildren, Leonard E. Bosworth and Hobard W. Bosworth. For the first 40 years of her life she was a homemaker, rear ing six stepsons and five children of her own. She began her career as a secretary for an insurance agent, George Marshall. She continued her employment while managing a four-year full-time schedule of classes at Nicholls State University. In 1964 she graduated with a bachelors degree in education. Later she earned a master's in education, a master's plus 30 and a certification in library science. She taught elementary school for 10 years and was a librarian for five years in the Lafourche Parish school system. During her business and professional life she belonged to the following organization, in which she served as president; Thibodaux College High School Mother's Club, Thibodaux Business and Professional Women's Club, Altrua Club, Lafourche Parish Homemakers Council, Thibodaux Regional Hospital Auxiliary, Louisiana State Hospital Auxiliary Board and Thibodaux Music Club. During her tenure as president of Friends of the Library, the current library land was donated to the federal government as part of the Jean Lafitte project. Through the years, she also served in other offices. She was a lay Carmelite. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Friends of the Library, Masses or Ladies Auxiliary of Thibodaux Regional Medical Center. Landry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
