All rights reserved. ============================================================================ December 17. 2005 12:00AM Willis Poirrier Willis Joseph Poirrier, 74, a native and resident of Vacherie, died at 11:37 p.m. Thurs-day, Dec. 15, 2005, at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to funeral time Monday at St. Philip Catholic Church at 1175 La. 18 in Vacherie. Mass will be at 11 a.m. at the church, with entombment at Our Lady of Peace cemetery in Vacherie. He is survived by his wife, Loretta Jane Veillon Poirrier of Mamou; one son, Jean Willis Poirrier II and wife, Lise of Vacherie; three daughters, Cindy Poirrier Job and husband, Lyndsay, of Metairie, Pam Poirrier Buchtel-Hussey and husband, Michael, of Metairie, and Tesa Poirrier Becnel and husband, Charles, of Metairie; eight grandchildren, Cammie Poirrier Delaune, Jean Poirrier III, Andree Poirrier, Lindsey and Caroline Buchtel, Samantha Hussey, Stence and Tanzy Jean Becnel; and two great-grandchildren, Tate and Sarah Delaune. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean Willis Poirrier and Freida Falgoust Poirrier. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Lutcher & Gramercy Lions Club, the American Legion and the Louisiana Finance Association. He served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force in the Korean War. He was president and manager of Vacherie Loans for 34 years and director of St. James Bank and Regions Bank for 30 years. He graduated from Tulane University with a bachelor of science degree. He enjoyed yard work and keeping his cars clean. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Rose Lynn Funeral Services of Lutcher is in charge of arrangements.
