Funeral services for
Nesbit “Bud” Bertram, Jr. will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 2:00 P.M.
at Sondheimer Baptist Church in Sondheimer, Louisiana with Bro. Billy Castilaw officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M.
Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah, Louisiana under the
direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.
Bud Bertram was born
on May 25, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois to Nesbit Bertram, Sr., Isable Dayton Bertram and Katherine Ann Arbogast
Bertram.
He joined the United
States Navy in 1951 and served for five years as a cook. He then came home to
Tampa, Florida and worked for Wenczel Tile Company
for many years. He moved in and out of Louisiana and Florida working
several jobs, but finally landed in Sondheimer, Louisiana driving a
tractor. He was married to Ginger Cowell Bertram
for 27 years. He loved his family, riding his motorcycle, gardening and
fishing. Bud devoted much of his time to front porch sitting while drinking
coffee and telling stories.
Bud was blessed with
five daughters, Elizabeth Atkinson (Calvin) from Marianna, Florida, Beverly Vining (Kendall) from Doyline,
Louisiana, Becky Saldana from Florida, Bernice Bertram from Texas, Brenda
Peters (Clyde) from Arkansas and one son Nesbit Bertram, III, who is deceased.
His family also includes a gaggle of 14 grandchildren and a host of 50
great grandchildren.
He is survived in
death by his wife, daughters and his siblings Delmar Bertram, Jean Archer, Paul
Bertram, Susan Witte, Max Morrow, Stella Marsh, Walter Bertram (Brenda), Carol
Roberts, John Bertram, Nancy Wakefield and Sharon Wakefield (George).
He is preceded in
death by his son, his parents, his brother Harry, his sisters, Betty
Morrow, Kathy Vining and Marjorie Moss as well as two
granddaughters, Destiny and Brandy.
Pallbearers are Heath
Vining, Max Marrow, Jr., Joseph Marrow, Eddie Vining, Rich Lagasse, and
Joe Marsh.
