All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Ellison Eugene “Gene” Brown, Jr. Madison Parish, LA May 20, 1940 ~ May 12, 2020 (age 79) From Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home, Tallulah, LA May 14, 2020 Funeral service for Mr. Ellison Eugene “Gene” Brown, Jr., age 79, will be held Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Parkview Baptist Church in Tallulah, Louisiana with Bro. Jason Lupo officiating. Visitation will be Friday, May 15, 2020 from 5:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. at Parkview Baptist Church. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah, Louisiana Saturday, May 16, 2020 following the funeral service under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home. Mr. Gene Brown passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at Legacy Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Tallulah, Louisiana following a lengthy illness. He was born May 20, 1940 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Gene attended Northwestern State College where he earned a Master of Science degree. He was a United States Army Veteran. He worked for and retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Gene was also known to his family and friends as “Papaw”, “Mean Gene”, and “Goober Nut”. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Martha and Ellison Eugene Brown, Sr.; brother, Jimbo Brown; stepson, David Purvis; and wife, Mary Lucy Cox Brown. Gene is survived by two siblings, Susie, husband Dickie, Jester and Tom, wife Sue, Brown; four children, Laura, husband Tommy, Polk, Kevin, wife Christal, Purvis. Kaaren, husband David, Lynch, and Edgar Purvis; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be David Watson, Garrett Marsh, Craig Brown, Craig Cox, Quintin Purvis, and Bodie McDonald.
