All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ JOSEPHINE PHILLIPS HODGE Madison Parish, LA July 7, 1933 ~ January 1, 2020 (age 86)) From Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home December 14, 2019 Services for JOSEPHINE PHILLIPS HODGE, 86, will be Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 11 a.m. at St, Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Tallulah, Louisiana, with Father Ryan Humphries officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home. Josephine was born at the Scurria home in Tallulah on July 7, 1933 and passed away on January 1, 2020 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. Josephine was the daughter of Charlie and Sarah Scurria Phillips. She was a graduate of Tallulah High School, Class of 1951 and she enjoyed keeping a record of her classmates and attending their reunions over the years. She was most proud that her entry, “The Trojan Echo”, was selected as the title for the yearbook. Josephine was always cooking for family and friends and was proud of her Italian heritage. She was active in the church and the community and was a board member of the Tallulah Tourism Commission. She also enjoyed her time with her Bourre’ club and friends. Josehine was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Hodge, her parents, and her sister, Marie Michele. She is survived by her children, Charles Michael Finlayson (wife, Betina), Sara Finlayson, Billye Jo Finlayson, and her stepson, Billy Ray Hodge, her special cousin, Dr. Sandra Scurria, and her lifelong neighbor, George “Bucky” Weaver. Pallbearers will be: Vincent Phillips, Nap Book, Kirk Morley, Phillip Scurria, Ryan Hodge, Ashley Halterman, and Tommy Hemphill. Honorary pallbearers are Bucky Weaver, Bill Travis, Bill Grimes, and J.D. Cherene. In lieu of flowers, please make any planned memorials to St Edward Catholic Church, Tallulah, LA or Silver Cross Cemetery, Tallulah, LA.
