Millie Yee Lee, Madison Parish, Louisiana

Houston, TX - Millie Yee Lee, 65, passed on November 30th, 2018 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family.

On June 24th, 1953, Millie began her journey as a fighter, having been born prematurely in Vicksburg, MS to Park (deceased) & Gim (deceased) Yee. That fighting spirit would immediately pay dividends for her as it's never easy being the baby of the family. While she would grow to love her three older siblings, Faye, Tommy, & Hilton, very much, that didn't stop them from invoking their elder sibling birthright to tease her and call dibs on pretty much anything. But being the baby also came with perks like extra Nestle Crunch bars (which young Millie thoroughly enjoyed) and more importantly, the benefit of her older sister and brothers constantly looking after her and making sure she was taken care of - a benefit that still carries on.

Millie grew up in Tallulah, LA where she graduated as salutatorian of Tallulah HS. She continued her education at Louisiana Tech where she earned her BBA with a major in Accounting. She spent most of her working career as an accountant, most recently with Chevron.

Following work, Millie made her way to Houston where she would find her husband David Lee. Together they would have two sons, Robert and Michael. Having to deal with two teenage boys and a husband who could act like one required Millie to draw on her fighting spirit again. Yet everyday she worked hard to put dinner on the table and make sure that her babies would want for nothing. She succeeded of course, resulting in one mostly obedient husband and two well rounded, smart, and incredibly handsome sons.

In 2015, Millie would again find herself in another fight. This time it was with liver disease and cancer. She struggled through surgeries and a slew of medical treatments to prolong the time she had to spend with her loved ones. She gave everything she had to give those extra moments and memories to the people that meant the most to her. And we're grateful she did.

Anyone who knew Millie, could never deny she had the heart of a warrior. While she may not have been physically imposing her love was a force with which to be reckoned. She had a selfless nature, always putting others' needs and desires ahead of hers. She constantly worked to make sure everyone felt included and appreciated. And if her words were ever lacking, her brownies and deviled eggs picked up the slack. She was an amazing woman and the world is a better place because she fought to make it that way.

Memorial services begin at noon, Saturday, December 15th, 2018 at Chinese Baptist Church, 900 Brogden Rd, Houston, TX 77024.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CHI St. Luke's Health or Chinese Baptist Church.
