Memorial services for George Ray Navarro 76 of West Monroe, LA formerly of Tallulah, LA will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Cox Funeral Home in Delhi with Rev. Jonathan Williams officiating.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 from 1:00 PM until time of service.

George was born on August 1, 1942 in Clarksdale, MS and passed from this life in West Monroe, LA Friday, July 19, 2019 following an extended illness.

He graduated from Lake Providence High School where he was a two-year Letterman in football, making 2nd teal All District in 1959. George served in the US Army with the 187th Airborne Infantry.

He had an extensive career in sports serving in all aspects of the game from Dixie Boys Assistant and Head coach followed by a longtime career in the LHSAA officiating Football, Softball and Baseball and was able to accomplish an official’s ultimate goal of being asked to officiate as Referee of a State Championship Game in the “Dome”. He also served as Assignment Secretary for the Poverty Point Umpires Association.

George worked for the US Postal service and ultimately retired as the Postmaster for the Pioneer Post Office.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Navarro Sr. and Corine Fabela Navarro and his beloved wife Melanie Ann Mattmiller Navarro.

George is survived by his children, Chris Crafford of Tallulah, LA, John Navarro & wife Toni of Monroe, LA, Melanie McNatt & husband Rich of Prairie Grove, AR, Elise Navarro & her significant other Randy Myrick of Oak Grove, LA and Beth Navarro & husband Wes Miller of Atlanta, GA and five grandchildren, Justin Barboza, Rainey McNatt, Wyatt McNatt, Chevy Navarro and Kade Klink.

George is also survived by nine siblings, Louis Navarro & wife Sara, Linda Getchell, Thomas Navarro & wife Katie, Eddie Navarro & wife Madge, Gene Navarro & wife Patty, Ricky Navarro, Donna Navarro, Michael Navarro and Dennis Navarro and numerous nieces and nephews.


Any planned memorials made be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Association.
