Albert Horuff has been a resident of Louisiana for fifteen years. He located at
Monroe temporarily, but found the environment and opportunities such as to
attract him, to permanent residence. He is one of the able business men, bankers
and one of the most active public spirited citizens of that locality.
He
is a native of Madison, Indiana, but he was reared and spent his early youth in
Indianapolis. He acquired a good public school education and for several years
was in business at Cincinnati. He came to Monroe in 1910. After a year spent on
the special business missions that brought him, he decided to remain, having in
the meantime recognized the great possibilities of Monroe and Northern
Louisiana's future. His judgment in this respect has proved to be good, since
Monroe and this section in the last few years have grown beyond all past
conjecture. This is due in part to the opening up of a great natural gas field,
with the resultant bringing in of many large industries, and the expansion of
the city in all directions.
For several years Mr. Horuff had intimate
business relations with the Central Savings Bank and Trust Company of Monroe,
and on January 1, 1923, was made one of its officials, assigned to the duty as
cashier. In January, 1924, he was made active vice president, and is giving his
best talents and ability to the success and growth of this splendid institution.
Mr. Horuff in 1924 was honored by being elected president of the Monroe
Rotary Club, a work in which he is greatly interested. He is vice president of
the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, is a member of the board of directors of the
Golf Club, and public matters in general enlist his hearty co-operation.
Mr. Horuff married Miss Mabel Dell of Indiana. They have one daughter, Marie
Dell Horuff.
