Richard Boyd as principal and George A. Davis his security acknowledged to me and be indebted until Lewis F. Larry/Lamy Parish Judge and his successors in office in the sum five hundred dollars to the payment whereof will and truly to be made we bind ourselves our heirs executors and assigns firmly by these presents dated this 29th day of May A.D. 1840.
The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas a marriage is about to take place between Mr. Richard Boyd and Miss Henrietta Gregor.
Now therefore if there does not exist any legal impediment to said intended marriage then and in that case the above obligation to be null and void else to remain in full force and virtue.

State of Louisiana, Parish of Ouachita, Before me Oliver J Morgan, Parish Judge in and for the Parish aforesaid personally appeared Joseph Arledge, resident of this parish who declared that a marriage was about to take place between Miss Patsey, minor daughter of the said Aldredge, and George Bush, to which marriage the said Aldridge, hereby gives his voluntary consent.
In testimony where of the party has signed the present in presence of me, the said parish Judge.

The said appears have moreover declared that having doubts as to the validity of their marriage so as aforesaid celebrated by a Parish Judge they have determined to cause the same to be celebrated anew by a preacher of the Gospel duly authorised to celebrate Marriages, in consequence whereof they have taken out a license from the Judge of this Parish bearing date the 10th of August 1817 authorising their marriage, which license they have presented to me the aforesaid Preacher of the Gospel and have requested to be married, wherefore being respectfully questioned, they do declare that it is their mutual wish and intention to take each the other as Husband & Wife and that they acknowledge as legitimate their children before mentioned as the lawful issue of their union and therefore I have duly joined them together in Marriage. This sixth day of September, 1817, personally appeared before me, Oliver J Morgan, Judge of the Parish of Ouachita, Thomas B. Franklin and Elizabeth Ford, daughter of Lydia Ford wife of John Bannister both of the Parish aforesaid, who are mutually agreed on the following contract of marriage.
The said Franklin and the said Elizabeth agree to take each the other as man and wife and to celebrate the same immediately. The parties reciprocally acknowledge that the husband is professed of a plantation and ten negroes estimated at seven thousand dollars out of which property he endows his future wife with the sum of one thousand dollars and one hundred acres of land situated in the parish of Ouachita, to hold and enjoy during her natural life, then to revert to the rightful heirs of him the said Franklin. All other matters and things relative to their property the parties leave to the disposition of the laws in force.

The record shows that this was a second ceremony as they had been married originally by Henry Bry in 1807.

Note: According to family history, this family was in a wagon train, coming from Alabama to Union County, Arkansas. Jesse Frisby's wife died, and left him with several small children. He and Melissa just stopped the wagon train long enough in Ouachita Parish to get married before going on to Union Co. Arkansas. They spent their entire life in Union County, and both are buried in Green Grove cemetery in Union County, Arkansas.

Few more auspicious unions have been celebrated in Monroe than that at the residence of the bride's father at 12 n. on Thursday the 28th inst., when Dr. Robt. Layton, favorably known in this city from boyhood, was by the Rev. Mr. Crezler united in marriage to Miss Genie Stubbs, one of Monroe's most highly esteemed and accomplished young women. When to every attribute of true nobility in the man are joined beauty, amiability and intelligence in the woman the future is radiant with promises of happiness.
The mariage [sic] was witnessed by a few of the bride's nearest friends, among whom were Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Stone, Mr. and Mrs. Murphy of Tallulah, Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Breard, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. D. M. MURRAY-WATSON

Mr. Wayne Murray was married to Miss Ruth Watson in Monroe, Tuesday, Rev. J. S. Edmonds officiating. The groom is a cattleman now living in Calhoun, with a ranch near Choudrant. Originally he was from Arizona Ty. He is a well-to-do man and quite acceptable to our esteemed friend Judge N. G. Watson, of Calhoun, who did not run the young folks away from home, but allowed them to indulge a fancy for a wedding trip to town. Miss Ruth is Judge Watson's charming daughter, sweet and lovable. The Bulletin wishes the happy couple many years of happiness.

And Marie Barbe Filhiol, widow Bourgeat, his wife who declared that a marriage is about to take place between James Fort Muse and Margaret Adelaide Bourgeat, minor daughter of the said Barbe Filhiol to which marriage these declarents do hereby give voluntary consent. In testimony whereof the parties have signed before me the said Parish Judge and in presence of the attending witnesses this 22nd day of Feb. 1821

Before me Oliver J. Morgan Parish Judge for the Parish of Ouachita in the State of Louisiana, personally appeared James Fort Muse as prinicipal and Grammont Filhiol his security who declared themselves their heirs and firmly bound into Thomas B. Robertson, Governor of the State of Louisiana and his succesors in office for the time being in the sum of $500.00 by these presents dated this day the 22 day of Feb. 1821.

The condition of the above obligation is such where as a marriage is about to take place between the said James Fort Muse and Margaret Adelaide Bourgeat. Now, if there exists no legal empediment to the said intended marriage then this obligation to be void, else to remain in full force and ****. In testimony whereof the parties have signed affixed and acknowledged present to be their act and deed in presence of me the said Parish Judge and in presence of Conrad Linderman and Eli Harris witnesses.

Notes:

Muse, James Fort and Bourgeat, Margaret Adelaide were married February 22, 1821.

Margaret Adelaide Bourgeat was the daughter of Barbe Filhiol and Narcisse Bourgeat, and granddaughter of Jean Baptiste Filhiol or Don Juan Filhion, commandant of Ft. Miro. Grammont Filhiol was brother of Barbe Filhiol.

Barbe Filhiol was married to
1) Narcisse Bourgeat 1803;
2) Conrad Linderman 1812;
3) James Netherland 1823;
4) James Watts 1826; and
5) Auguste Ludwig 1834.

Marie Barbe died about 1859.

Julia Washington Muse, daughter of Margaret Adelaide and James Fort Muse, married Dr. Christopher Hunt Dabbs in in 1845 and had two children, James Muse Dabbs and Julia Adelaide Dabbs.

POTTS-MAXWELL

Mr. John James Potts and Miss Flora Maxwell were married in the Parlor of the Hotel Carrol, Vicksburg, Wednesday eveing. Due to the illness of the bride's mother the idea of a home wedding was given up. Judge and Mrs. W. N. Potts and Mr. Percy Sandel and Miss Elvie Potts went over to Vicksburg with the groom.
The couple left by the 9:40 Valley train for New Orleans, where they will remain a few days before returning to Monroe. Later in the season Mr. and Mrs. Potts will leave for a trip to Mexico and Central America and will visit relatives of the groom in the latter country.

Thompson and Mrs. Eliza Jane Vinson both residents of the State aforesaid and to solemnize and celebrate the said marriage between the parties as above named according to the laws and customs of the State of Louisiana and make your return here and as the law directs and this shall be your authority for so doing. VENABLE-NOLAN

Miss Lela Nolan and Mr. E. L. Venable were united in marriage Saturday evening November the thirteenth at the Baptist Parsonage with Rev. Hastings, pastor, performing the ceremony in the presence of a few intimate friends.

"Marriage articles of agreement entered into this twenty-first* day of May in the year of our Lord One Thousand eight hundred and Six between John Williams, Son of Samuel Williams, and Betsy Damerel, Stipulating for himself, and Miss Julie Roy Daughter of Auguste Roy and Mariannne Moron Stipulating for herself. this agreement Witnesses that the parties in the presence and with the consent of their parents and Friends to wit on the part of the sutur (suitor ?) Thomas Barlow and James Trulock, and on the part of the future Spouse Charles Fetin ** and Michel Levillain all inhabitants of this County have voluntarily agreed to this contract of marriage and the following conventions.

First the parties promis to take each other by naure (nature ?) and Sacrement of matrimony and to celebrate the Same before whatever Church they think most proper the first opportunity that may offer or at any time when it Shall be required by either of them or their parents and friends.

Second until Such Solemization Shall take place the contracting parties hereby pledge themSelves to act towards each other one all times and in all respects as becomes them under So Sacred an engagement
