Funeral services for Mrs. Etta Kelly Head May, 94, of West Monroe, were
held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 7, 1997 at Kilpatrick's West Monroe
Chapel with Rev. Charles Davis and Rev. George Bonner officiating.
Mrs. May died Tuesday, August 5, 1997 at West Monroe Guest House.
Mrs. Kelly was born July 21, 1903 in Kelly. She had resided in
Ouachita Parish for 37 years. Mrs. May was a member of Peniel Baptist
Church in West Monroe. She was a member of the White Lily Chapter of the
Order of Easter Star in Clarks.
She was preceded in death by a
daughter, Chlotile McMullen.
Survivors include three children,
Versie Mae Caples of West Monroe, Helen Whitlock and husband Melvin of
West Monroe, Marvin Head and wife Modell of West Monroe; four brothers,
Delbert Kelly of Aberdeen, Washington, Gilbert Kelly of Greenwood,
Mississippi, Major Kelly of Standard, California, and Jimmie Kelly of
Anaheim, California; four sisters, Ouida Trichell of Monroe, Donnie
Carter of Clarks, Lessie Goldrick of Yucaipa, California and Ethel
Solomon of Alexandria; 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 7
great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of other
relatives and friends.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
Etta married (1) Iley Leonard HEAD, and (2) Benjamin Quillie MAY.
