Mrs. Olivia Elizabeth May, 95, of 509 Arkansas St., Monroe, died in a
West Monroe hospital Friday. Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. today at
Hixson Brothers with the Revs. Clifton Tennison and James T. Horton
officiating. Burial will be at Hasley Cemetery by Hixson.
Mrs.
May was a native of Jackson, Miss., and a longtime resident of Monroe.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of West Monroe.
Survivors include two sons, David Fluitt of Monroe and Matthew Fluitt of
Chatham; five daughters, Mrs. E.M. Henderson of Monroe, Mrs. W.E.
Jordan, Mrs. J.M. Willis and Mrs. R.M. Steele, all of West Monroe; and
Mrs. E.J. Brown of Chatham; one brother, Seth Fluitt of Baton Rouge; one
sister, Mrs. W.B. May of Baton Rouge; 14 grandchildren, 28
great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Claman Willis, Russell Jordan, Roy M. Steele Jr.,
Wayne Fluitt, Fluitt Brown and Tommy Pitre.
Mrs. May married Eli Joseph MAY on 17 May 1903.
