Services for Vela Grimes May, 73, of West Monroe, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 12, 1997 at Fair Park Baptist Church, with Rev. Dick Paige and Rev. Waymond Warren officiating. Burial will be in Fellowship Cemetery in Columbia, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.

Mrs. May died Friday, January 10, 1997 at her residence, following a brief illness.

Mrs. May was an active member of Fair Park Baptist Church and was a former president of the Fair Sunday School Class.

Survivors include sons, Joe William May, Columbia, Craig Alan May, West Monroe, daughter Betty Tyler May, West Monroe, granddaughters, Amy Jo May and Lea Ann May, West Monroe; sisters-in-law, Effie May Hinton, Monroe, Amanda May, Columbia, Odessa May Alger, Columbia, Myrtis Grimes, Dallas TX; sister-in-law, Arvenia Blackmon and husband, Mayo, Columbia, brothers-in-law Aaron May and wife Hazel, Winnsboro, Leo May and wife Betty, Columbia, Gordon May and wife Faye, Logansport, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be Steven May, Darris Waren, Teddy May, C.L. Hinton, Steve Hargis, Todd Miley, Colby Petch, Donnie Williams and Billy Byrd. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Fair Park Baptist Church.

Visitation will be 5:00 until 9:00 p.m., Saturday and 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., Sunday at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Glenwood Hospice nurses and staff.
