Subject: Oliver Regian/Region
Ok Guys, I need a spot of help. Several of us have tried to run Oliver Region to ground. I believe I have. but due to distance I'm having a bit of trouble checking records. Can someone double check me specially for Susannah D Miller

1. Oliver REGION, b. 1832 in Mississippi, (son of Eli ? RIGGIN and Susannah D MILLER). In the 1850 Census Oliver is shown in the household of John Carter. John Carter's wife is Dicey and could well have been Oliver's sister. Oliver served in the Civil War in CSA as a private Company F. 3rd(Harrison's) Louisiana Cav. He was a POW and was paroled at Monroe, Louisiana on 9 Jun 1865. Also known as REGIAN. Land records show township 18N, 2E, Section 8. (Dated 15 Jan 1858 and 24 June 1878). Document # 14293. The best bet (but only a guess) for parents of Oliver Regian are Eli Ridgen/Riggin and wife Susannah Miller. Also, over in Mississippi next to Eli is Frediac Riggin and he could be Eli's dad. On a side note. Susannah Miller buys land at the same time as Oliver and right nearby to him in Louisiana. 19N1WS23.

He married Mary J McINTOSH, 27 Jan 1853 in West Monroe, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana, marriage license 25 Jan 1853 in Ouachita Parish, Louisiana, b. 1838 in North Carolina, (daughter of Unknown McINTOSH and Catherine).

Children:
+ 2. i Anna REGION b. 1855.
3. ii M REGION, b. 1856 in Louisiana.
+ 4. iii Amanda C REGION b. 20 Jul 1859.
5. iv Alice R REGION, b. 31 Mar 1863 in West Monroe, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana.

She married (1) Rufus Levi MURRAY, 12 Mar 1891 in Ouachita Parish, Louisiana, marriage license 11 Mar 1891 in Ouachita Parish, Louisiana, b. Dec 1865 in Mississippi.
She married (2) Thomas B BROWNE, b. 1860.

+ 6. v Elizabeth REGION b. Mar 1867.

Subject: Milton Coverdale
On her deathbed, my grandmother, now deceased, told my mother that my mother's biological father was a man by the name of Milton Coverdale, Jr. from Quachita Parrish-Monroe, Louisiana. She said he was in the military when he was killed during the war (WWII), and she was also in the military at the time. She was pregnant with my mother when he was killed, and promptly married the only man my mother would know as her father. I think she said he was an attorney. My mother is the only child of five children that does not look like any of the other siblings: she is slender, 5'4, blue eyes, and dark brown hair with auburn highlights. All the other children are big boned and very heavy, so the story is plausible.

Do you know how I could confirm or disprove this information? Do you know how I could get information about him, his family, or his death?

Subject: Dickerson, Parker, George, Vicker
I am Linda Moore Box, great, great grandaughter of Lydia Ann Dickerson, who had a bro., George Washington Dickerson (parents: Isaac Dickerson & Martha Vickers). I am in possession of the originals of two letters written in 1862. The first was written on July 25, 1862 from George W. "Bud" to his sister Lydia Ann "Annie" from Camp Mason?, Madison? Parish while he was serving as a Confederate soldier. He describes "a fever" in the camp that had killed several members of their company. He also discusses and asks about many of their friends and neighbors back home in Ouichita Parish, near Monroe. He gives her info. on the friends and neighbors and relatives who are serving with him. The second letter, written on August 2, 1862, is the reply from "Annie" to her brother "Bud". She discusses the crops and the weather and talks about the friends and neighbors and families who are still there in Louisiana, missing their sons and brothers who are fighting in the war. In follow-up research through the Civil War Archives, it was discovered that George Washington Dickerson died from "a fever" very early in August, 1862, shortly after he received his letter from his sister. It is presumed that "Annie" saved her last letter from her brother and that probably his letter from her was in his possession when he died and was returned to the family, and saved. The letters have been copied and are available for any of the family who would like a copy. They have been treated with an "archival preservative" to help prevent any further deterioration. The letters were passed down thru our family from Kathryn Mahala Parker Rust (my g-g'mother), daughter of Lydia Ann Dickerson.
Lydia Ann Dickerson m. John Aaron Parker, son of West Parker & Mahala George and moved to Red River Co. in n.e. Texas
Catherine/Kathryn Dickerson (sis. of Lydia) m. Joseph Warren Parker, bro. of John Aaron Parker
Other names mentioned in the letters: Dr. Stinson, Bob Roberts, Bill Ray, Sherrod & Lucious Roberson, Mary and Marion Parker & their Uncle James, Isam Nettles, A. G. Wood, Willis Cockrell?.
I will be glad to make copies of these letters for anyone who is interested, or to post on this site. They are difficult to read, but very interesting! Linda B. in Tx.

Subject: Taylor, Brown, Pugh, and Warship Families
I am the daughter of Rose Marie Brown, born 11-23-1929 in Monroe, LA - died 11-9-1965 in Richmond, CA. Her father was Raymond Charles Brown, born 3-28-1907, in ?, LA - died 7-1979 in Lake Charles, LA. My mother's mother was Bertha Mary Taylor, born 2-7-1911, originally from ?, LA - died 1-28-1968 in Los Angeles, CA. Bertha had a son, James "Uncle Jimmie" Lee Pugh, born 5-5-1928, in ?, LA - died 9-27-1997 in Jonesboro, GA, but I have no knowledge of his father. Bertha's parents were Tillman Taylor and Daisy Warship. Daisy was part Indian (Black Feet, Choctaw,?) My mother, Rose, and Uncle Jimmie left Monroe, LA and moved to Los Angeles, CA with their mother Bertha sometime in the 1930's. Don't know if Bertha and Raymond, Bertha and ?Pugh, or Tillman and Daisy were married since I can't find marriage records for either couple.
My grandfather Raymond had two brothers, Clemon and John Brown, both live in Louisiana. Don't have records of their parents name's or origins.
