Ernest Albert Sr., 85, a native and resident of Paulina, died Dec. 21, 1998. He was the husband of the late Velma Buckner Albert and father of Annie Mae Davis, Ethel Jenkins, Elaine Foster, Raymond, Eidrine, Lionel, Dianne, Gary, the Rev. Nolan and Bernard Albert and the late Ernest Jr., Larry Jr. and Freddie Albert. He was also the son of the late Ernest and Victoria Albert and brother of Viola Pitts and the late Mattlene Dyle, Irma Braxton, Johnny, Morrell and Eugene Albert. He is also survived by 37 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services were held Dec. 23 at Evergreen Baptist Church, Paulina, with interment at Antioch Cemetery, Paulina.

Mamie L. Bradley Davis was born on October 31, 1931 to the union of the late Robert Sr. and Alma Woods Bradley in Carpenter, MS. She moved to Paulina, LA with her sister Lorraine Bradley in search of a better way of life in the early 1950's.
Realizing at an early age that God was needed for this journey, she accepted Christ and was baptized at Antioch Baptist Church by the late Reverend Clay. She later became a member of King Solomon Baptist Church under the Pastorship of Reverend Benjamin Scott and presently, Pastor Rowdy Kennard Scott. She was a faithful and dedicated Usher at King Solomon Baptist Church until her health began to fail.
Mamie was married to the late Alexander Davis and together this Union was blessed with 9 children; Leroy, the late Shirley Bradley Morris, Imogene, Jacqulian, Sandra Faye, Gwendolyn, Kathleen, Loretta and Alma. Mamie loved the Lord will all her heart. Her favorite scripture was John 15:5 "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing".
Mamie received her GED in 1979. She was a cook at the St James Parish Headstart for over 20 years. She enjoyed life to the fullest with her family and friends. Mamie was one of the best cooks that you could ever come across. It was nothing that she couldn't make taste good. She fed, clothed and housed many people in and around the neighborhood.
Mamie was blessed to be one of the 1st that fought on the frontlines for equal right for African Americans in St. James Parish. Early Monday morning on May 18, 2020 at the age of 88, Mamie left her earthly home and entered into her eternal home surrounded by her loved ones.
She leaves to cherish her beloved memories to her devoted son Leroy (Donna) Wells, daughters Imogene D. Watson, Jacqulian Aubert, Sandra F. Martin, Gwendolyn (Gene) Franklin, Kathleen (Chadwick) Gautreaux, Loretta (Alonzo) Craighton Sr., and Alma D. Holley (devoted friend Wynoka Favorite). She was a devoted grandmother of 27; great-grandmother of 52 and great-great-grandmother of 25. She is also survived by 2 Brothers-in-Law John Clayton Sr. and Robert Davis. Mamie will also be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dave Howard Jr., a factory worker, died Wednesday at Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was 79. Mr. Howard was born in Convent and lived in White Castle for many years. He was an Army veteran. Survivors include a son, James Davis of San Diego; two daughters, Nettie Parquette of Garyville and Glenda H. Gaines of Reserve; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. LUTCHER - Enola "Ma Dear" Johnson, 90, a native of Convent and resident of Lutcher, died Oct. 13. She was the wife of the Rev. Dennis Johnson Jr. and mother of Faye Farlough, Hattie LaDay, Denese Washington and Dennis III, Ronald and Donald Johnson. She was the sister of Margie Jackson and Aldrich Seals. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was a retired employee of the St. James Parish Council on Aging.

Warren Michael Johnson, a process operator for Shell/Motiva LLC Enterprises, died Dec. 14 of a heart attack at Meadowcrest Hospital in Gretna. He was 47. Mr. Johnson was born in New Orleans and lived in LaPlace. He attended Lutcher High School and was in the Air Force for four years. Survivors include his wife, Maureen Ross Johnson; three sons, Jared Johnson, Brandon Williams and Jonathon Nelson; two daughters, Shannon Johnson and Taleisha Jacques; his mother, Ruby Johnson; seven brothers, Harry, Gerald, the Rev. Woman, 79, dies in crash in Gramercy
A 79-year-old Gramercy woman died Christmas Day in a two-car collision on La. 61, State Police said. Estella Joseph, 237 Hickory St., died at St. James Hospital following the 7:25 p.m. crash at the intersection of La. 61 and La. 641. Joseph was a passenger in a Lincoln Mark IV driven by Melba J. Rosseau, 56, of San Diego, Calif. Rosseau, heading north on La. 61, was making a left turn onto La. 641 just as a 1991 Lincoln Continental southbound on La. 61 was approaching La. 641, troopers said. The Continental, driven by August M. Hoffmann Jr., 78, 254 W. Second St., Reserve, struck the right side of Rosseau's car. Both drivers received moderate injuries. Everyone involved in the crash wore seat belts.
Troopers booked Rosseau with negligent homicide and failure to yield while turning left at an intersection.

A beautiful bond in the Kirklin family was broken when an angel of the Lord called his beloved child, Ronnie "Big 8" Kirklin home to rest on July 8, 2020 at Our Lady of The Lake Ascension campus, Gonzales, LA. Ronnie was born on July 27, 1956 to the late James Kirklin and Dorothy Russell Kirklin of Paulina, LA. Ronnie was reared in a Christian home. He was baptized when he was only 13 years old on September 21, 1969 at Antioch Baptist Church in Paulina, LA, by the late Rev. Jesse Clay. He was educated in the St. James Parish School System and was a graduate of Lutcher High School, Class of 1976. After high school, Ronnie was employed by Boh Bros. Construction of New Orleans, LA, Peavey Grain Elevator, Paulina, LA, and LaFarge Concrete Company of Gramercy, LA. "Big 8" was a friendly, caring, and straight forward person. He had a special bond with all his nieces and nephews. Although some claim to have been his favorite. He had an infectious smile and loved joking around with family and friends. His favorite hobbies were working on cars, trucks, lawn mowers anything with wheels. He was an AWESOME mechanic. Ronnie (Big 8) and Rodney (Hot Rod) were not only brothers, but the best of friends. They did everything together. During these difficult times, Rodney was his caregiver along with our mother. They NEVER left his side. We all did our part. Ronnie leaves behind a loving family and many beautiful memories. To cherish these memories are his mother, Dorothy Russell Kirklin, his son, Levar Vallery, his sister Yvonne Kirklin Scott (Alex), his brothers James Kirklin (Elaine), Rodney "Hot Rod" Kirklin, (Katie), Austin Kirklin, (Aariel), Jason Kirklin and Lodric Kirklin, grandchildren Jakoya Jones, Angel Williams, and Levar Williams, devoted friend and former wife, Connie V. Shirley May Kirklin was peacefully lifted by God's Angels on Tuesday, October 29th, 2019 at the age of 82 at Ochsner Hospital in Kenner, La. She was born in Remy, La to parents Fred and Irene Hayes Kirklin. Shirley was a native of Lutcher, LA for many years, but spent her remaining years at Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Laplace, La. Shirley was a loving mother and grandmother. To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren she was affectionately known as "momo" Shirley. She loved sweets, enjoyed fishing and playing bingo. Her kindness and giving spirit will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was the wife of the late Lawrence Martin Sr., mother of Margie Young, Doris Bowser, Donna Barker and Adeline, Jeanette, Joyce, Larry, Tyrone, Warren, George and the late Lawrence Martin Jr. and stepmother of Brenda Scott and Calvin Hayes. She was the daughter of the late Celestin and Adeline Clement Joseph and sister of the late Enola Stewart and Henry Sr., Celestin Sr., Charlie, Freddie and Aristede Joseph. She was also survived by 37 grandchildren,

Wilford Nailer Sr. passed away peacefully on December 1, 2022, at 83 years old. He was born on February 8, 1940, to the late greats Murphy & Leona Nailer. He met the late Annette Willis Nailer, "The love of his life", a New Orleans native married and embarked his life with her in New Orleans. Wilford was an alpha male who loved his family. He was fond of fine fashions, fishing, singing, music, boxing, second lines, Dallas Cowboys, and had a passion for planting organic produce. His career paths of employment were selling produce, taxi driver, Limo driver, Moving services, Water board employee, Longshoreman, and Railroad worker. Wilford Sr. better known as Rock was preceded in death by his guardians Phelix and Martha Russel. Grandparents Dennis and Corrine Gross, sister Joyce Terro, and granddaughter Danielle Nailer. He was a proud father and is survived by his children Desiree Nailer Singleton, Byron Singleton, Cynthia Nailer, Wilford Nailer Jr., and Nikki Williams. GRAMERCY - Johnny Perkins Jr., a native and resident of Lutcher, died June 14. He was the husband of Beatrice Weber Perkins and father of Johnnie Mae Armont, Beatrice Mitchell, Alice Johnson and Jerry Sr. and George Perkins Sr. He was also the son of the late Johnny Sr. and Sophia Lorio Perkins and brother of the late Thelma, Fred Sr. and Victor Perkins Sr. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

LUTCHER - Ernest Robertson Jr., 67, a resident of Paulina, died Jan. 30. He was the husband of Idola Porter Robertson and father of Pamela Tureaud, Patricia Johnson, Paulette Duperclay, Paul, James and Tony Porter. He was also the son of Annie Marcel Robertson, and the late Ernest Robertson Sr., and brother of Laddia Mason, Nettie Kirklin, Betty Griffin, Jeanetta Benn, Lawrence, Dave, Jackie, James, Henry and Eddie Robertson. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Leo Robinson Sr., a native of Paulina, LA, passed away May 13, 2010 at age 87. He was a great carpenter in the River Parish area. He leaves behind his wife, Lovina B. Robinson (Lutcher, LA), three daughters, nine sons, two step-sons, four daughters-in-law, three sons-in-law, thirty one grandchildren, and twenty nine great-grand- children. He leaves one sister Deloris Smith (CA), as well as a host of nieces and nephews. He will always be remembered for his love, great personality, and beautiful carpentry work.

Lillian Kirklin Ross, a homemaker, died Tuesday of complications from a blood clot at Ascension Hospital in Gonzales. She was 67. Mrs. Ross was a lifelong resident of Paulina. She was a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church, where she served as a choir member and an usher. Survivors include two sons, Robert Ross of Convent and Ricky Ross of Lutcher; six daughters, Janice Williams, Barbara Ross, Glenda Schexnayder, Leseley Smith, all of Paulina, Maureen Johnson of LaPlace and Joyce Turner of St. Croix; a brother, Robert Kirklin of Lutcher; two sisters, Emeline Washington and Ernestine Williams of Paulina; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. PAULINA - Elijah Scott Sr., 64, a native and resident of Paulina, died May 26. He was the husband of Catherine Ann Joseph Scott and father of Linda Gaines, Erica Walker, Barbara Manuel, Odeal, Eldrin, Jason, Ricky, Anthony and Elijah Scott Jr. and stepfather of Christopher and Bernard Blunt. He was also the son of the late Edward Sr. and Odeal Ward Scott and brother of Ernestine Lee, Joseph, George, Jake, Samuel and the Rev. Deletha "Deedy" Danielle Shiloh passed away at the age of 52 at St. James Parish Hospital on July 20, 2021, after a valiant battle with a long-term illness. Deletha was born on February 22, 1969, in Lutcher, LA to Leanna Holmes Shiloh and Leroy Shiloh, Sr. She was devoted Christian and strong woman of faith. She graduated from Lutcher High School in 1989. Following high school, she attended Technical College of Kenner, LA earned her certification in Early Childhood Development. She enjoyed reading, cooking, occasional shopping and the joy and devotion of caring for her family. Audrey Vallery Stewart, a homemaker, died Oct. 7 of undetermined causes at New Orleans Home and Rehabilitation Center. She was 63. Mrs. Stewart was born in Central and lived in New Orleans. Survivors include a son, Lance Stewart; two daughters, Cynthia and Janice Stewart; six sisters, Connie Kirklin, Laura Wadley of Convent, Mary Mullens of Baton Rouge, Dorothy Singleton and Tilda and Erma Vallery; four brothers, Ronald, Neal, Edmond and Leonard Vallery; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Frederick "Fred" Ursin died Friday from injuries sustained in a car accident in Bristol, Tenn. He was 21. Mr. Ursin lived in San Antonio for the past three years. He attended Wilkinson County High School and received an associates degree in electrical engineering. Survivors include his father, Molen Ursin; three brothers, Ricou, Travis and Calvin Ursin of Woodville, Miss.; two sisters, Carisa Ursin of Alexandria, Va., and Nicole Jones of Merritt Island, Fla.; and a stepmother, JoAnne Ursin. Leroy "Goody" Wells was born on June 30, 1946, In Carpenter, Mississippi to the late Mamie L. Bradley Davis and Samuel King. He was Mamie's oldest and only son. Leroy met Donna Albert in high school and later married his high school sweetheart on February 14, 1968. Together this union was blessed with 4 children: Rhonda Wells, Leroy (Raynell) Wells, Jacquia Wells, and Rondez (Kira) Wells; one other daughter, Chantrell Burl. Leroy also cherished his siblings: Imogene Watson of Lutcher, Jacqulian D. Aubert of Gramercy, Sandra F. Martin of Gramercy, Gwendolyn Franklin of Paulina, Kathaleen (Chadwick) Gauthreaux of Convent, Loretta (Alonzo) Craighton of Prairieville, Alma Holley of Gramercy, Lucille (Leroy) Gaines, Linda (Lawrence) Mack, Bobby Mosby, Brenda Lee, Lionel (Bonita) King, Jerry (Brenda) King, Willie (Sharon) King, Robert (Estella) King, Kent (Debra) King, and Eddie (Shirley) King all of Mississippi. Leroy was educated in the St. James Parish School System. He graduated from Cypress Grove High School in 1965. He later entered the job core and from there he graduated as a butcher. Leroy accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized at an early age at King Solomon Baptist by Pastor Benjamin Scott. His favorite scripture was Proverbs 3: 5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths". Leroy was employed with Veron Provision in Lutcher, LA. He later worked at Avondale Shipyard in Avondale, LA. Leroy went on to work for Colonial Sugar Refinery. He retired from St. James Parish Utility after working with them for 25 years. Leroy was an active member of the Lutcher Sportsman League and Black Hawk Motorcycle Club. He was also known for his signature dance and being the life of the party. On Monday, November 14, 2022, God put His arms around Leroy and whispered, "Come to me". At that time Leroy departed his earthly life and entered eternal rest with his heavenly father. Leroy leaves to cherish his beloved memories to his wife of 55 years: Donna Wells, 5 children;,18 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, 1 sister-in-law: Addie Cooper, 7 Godchildren: Robert "Hobo" Taylor, Tonika Washington, Arlene Bridges, Carla Williams, Jermenae' Fluence, Arlyn Johnson, and Edward "Ben" Banks, devoted friends: Leonard Fluence, Derrick Smith, and James "Zickel" Kirklin.
