Ernest Albert Sr.

Ernest Albert Sr., 85, a native and resident of Paulina, died Dec. 21, 1998. He was the husband of the late Velma Buckner Albert and father of Annie Mae Davis, Ethel Jenkins, Elaine Foster, Raymond, Eidrine, Lionel, Dianne, Gary, the Rev. Nolan and Bernard Albert and the late Ernest Jr., Larry Jr. and Freddie Albert. He was also the son of the late Ernest and Victoria Albert and brother of Viola Pitts and the late Mattlene Dyle, Irma Braxton, Johnny, Morrell and Eugene Albert. He is also survived by 37 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Services were held Dec. 23 at Evergreen Baptist Church, Paulina, with interment at Antioch Cemetery, Paulina.

Dorothy Mae Banks was born on September 13, 1935 to the late Freddie and Viola Riley Miller in Hester, Louisiana. On Sunday, October 13, 2019, at the glorious age of 84 at her sister's home, Dorothy entered into rest knowing that to be absent from the body is to present with the Lord. Dorothy, affectionately known as Boo and Dor, was the wife of the late Willie Banks. She is stepmother of Joann (Andrew Carr, Jr.) Carr and Wilfred Banks. Dorothy has four step grandchildren, Willie II, Lydell, and Brian Banks and Sharda Chapman. Dorothy was reared in a loving, God fearing family. She is the sister of Frederick Miller, Louise Miller Washington, and Mary Joseph, and the late Edward Miller and Doretha Miller Armant. Sister-in-law of Alice Gaines Banks. Dorothy reared as her own Nancy Cantrelle Laiche, Karen Lynn Bovie, and Carl and Eric Cantrelle. PAULINA - Cordell "Cool-C" Clayton, 27, a native and resident of Paulina, died Jan. 9. He was the son of Joyce Clayton Butler and the late Eric Nicholas and stepson of Alfred Butler Jr. He was also the grandson of Berthella Nicholas and Ernest Sr. and the late Louizer Clayton. Losten "World Montana" Clayton, a retired construction worker at Boh Bros. Construction Co., died Feb. 7 of complications from cancer at his home. He was 75. Mr. Clayton was born in Mount Airy and lived in New Orleans for more than 50 years. He also had been a school crossing guard. Survivors include his wife, Edna M. Armont Clayton, and three daughters, Shelia J. Clayton of Coppell, Texas, and Marsha C. Batiste and Lucille C. Simmons. Debra Jean Manuel Hill was born on November 7, 1953 at Charity Hospital in New Orleans to Alexander Manuel Sr. and Willie Mae Martin. In 1969, she accepted Christ and was baptized at the Greater Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church by the late Rev. Howard in Chicago, IL. She graduated in 1971 from Hyde Park High School in Chicago, IL. Debra worked most of her life as a Dietician. She was a very devoted usher and always willing to help in whatever way she could. She took great pride in being a Mother, grand, and great-grandmother to all her babies. She is survived by her 4 children; Twanya, Shaveen, Tanjanita Hill, and Ronda (Walter) Hansley. 5 brothers; Barry (Earlean) Manuel, John Jr., Frank (Cassandra), Michael (Debra), Adam Burns. 4 sisters, Loretta Joseph, Linda Hayes, Joyce Smith, and Carolyn Cola. 17 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, god-children, Jason Webster, Damon Jenkins, and Sincir "Sam" Porter and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. LUTCHER - Enola "Ma Dear" Johnson, 90, a native of Convent and resident of Lutcher, died Oct. 13. She was the wife of the Rev. Dennis Johnson Jr. and mother of Faye Farlough, Hattie LaDay, Denese Washington and Dennis III, Ronald and Donald Johnson. She was the sister of Margie Jackson and Aldrich Seals. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was a retired employee of the St. James Parish Council on Aging. Shirley May Kirklin was peacefully lifted by God's Angels on Tuesday, October 29th, 2019 at the age of 82 at Ochsner Hospital in Kenner, La. She was born in Remy, La to parents Fred and Irene Hayes Kirklin. Shirley was a native of Lutcher, LA for many years, but spent her remaining years at Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Laplace, La. Shirley was a loving mother and grandmother. To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren she was affectionately known as "momo" Shirley. She loved sweets, enjoyed fishing and playing bingo. Her kindness and giving spirit will be deeply missed by her family and friends. LaQuanza "Q" Kazar Mason at the age 39 yrs. departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest on Sunday April 8,2018 at Ochsner/Kenner Regional Hospital in Kenner, La. Beloved daughter of Elaine and Leon Mason Sr. of LaPlace, La. Loving mother of Calvin, Cardell and Jasmine. Sister of Lakeisha George (Cameron) and Leon Mason Jr. (Rosanna). Aunt of Leila, Sydney and Liam. Also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A native of Montz, La. and a resident of LaPlace, La. LaQuanza spread her love from Baton Rouge to New Orleans, La. She was a graduate of Destrehan High School Class of 1997. She dedicated 13 yrs of service to Louisiana State Police as a dispatcher. LaQuanza is preceded in death by her grandparents Nelson and Theresa Thompson and Leroy Sr. and Carman Mason. GRAMERCY - Johnny Perkins Jr., a native and resident of Lutcher, died June 14. Ken Singleton - A native of Paulina and a resident of Marrero, he died in Marrero on Saturday, April 19, 2014. He was 44. Visiting at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Paulina, Friday, April 25, 2014, from 9:30 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Oscar Nelson. Viewing only prior to the funeral services. Interment in Antioch B.C. Cemetery in Paulina. Survived by his mother, Dorothy Valry Thomas and his father, Robert Singleton Jr.; his companion, Lesha Gasper; five sisters, Conchota, Myoshi and L'Oreal Singleton, Regina S. Theresa Thompson - A native of Paulina and a resident of Convent. She passed away at 2:20 A.M., Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at her daughter's residence in LaPlace. She was 90. Visiting at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Paulina, Saturday, October 22, 2016 from 9:30 A.M., until religious services at 11:00 A.M. ONLY, conducted by the Rev. Clemontine (Turner) Traveler

LUTCHER - Clemontine "Clem" "Big Mama" Turner Traveler, 88, a native and resident of Lutcher, died Dec. 14. She was the wife of the late John Traveler Jr., and mother of Mayola Beverly, Walter Sr. and Isaac Traveler, and the late Carolyn, Mary Lee and Pearly Traveler, and stepmother of the late Alvin Traveler. She was also the daughter of the late William and Lorena Russell Turner, and sister of Hazel Wallace, John Turner, and the late Ollie, Alvin and Ernest Turner. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Services are today at 11 a.m. at King David Baptist Church, Lutcher, with interment at Antioch Cemetery, Paulina. Visitation starts at 9:30 a.m.

George James "Bolo" Washington, Jr., a native and resident of Lutcher. He passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family at 7:27 p.m., Monday September 2, 2019. He was 86.
