Girly Granier Becnel, age 73, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Sunday, April 6, 2003; visitation to funeral time Wednesday at Thibodaux Funeral Home Chapel; religious services Wednesday at the chapel, with burial in Granier Cemetery in Vacherie. Survived by her husband, Sidney Becnel Sr.; three sons, Gerald, Sidney Jr. and Jason Becnel; one daughter, Geraldine B. Dufresne; two brothers, Horace Granier and Herman Granier Sr.; one sister, Olive Falgoust Stevenson; 10 grandchildren;
and eight great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, Mark Sr. and Antoinette Dempster Granier; and two brothers, Mark Jr. and Gilbert Granier.

Sidney P. Becnel Sr., 90, a resident and native of Vacherie, LA passed away on Friday, January 9, 2015. Visitation will be on Monday, January 12, 2015 at Thibodaux Funeral Home Parlor from 9:00 AM till funeral time. A religious service will take place at 1:00 PM at Thibodaux Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in Granier Private Cemetery in Vacherie, LA. He is survived by his daughter, Geraldine B. Dufresne; sons, Gerald Becnel, Sidney Becnel Jr. and Jason Becnel, brother, Lawrence Becnel; sisters, Theresa B.
Lomonaco, Shirley B. Folse, Stella B. Tardo, and Dorothy B. Rougee; many grandchildren and many many great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Girly Granier Becnel; parents, Aristide Becnel Sr. and Aramza Rome Becnel; brothers, Glovelance Becnel Sr. and A.J. Becnel Jr.; sister, Cecile Castleman. He was a Navy Veteran who served in World War II from 1944-1946. He retired from Avondale Shipyards as a welder after 35 Years.
He enjoyed watching the Yankees play and was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener. He had an abundance of many friends that will miss him. Thibodaux Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
