He served our country in the Pacific Theater during World War II and the Korean War. He went on to retire from the U.S. Air Force in 1965. In 1981, he retired from federal Civil Service at the fuel department on the Naval Submarine Base in San Diego. He was an inspiration to his four daughters and two sons, three of whom went on to military service. In 1972, he moved to San Diego, where he attended St. Catherine Labouré Catholic Church. On Sept. 18, 2010, at the age of 84, he crossed over into the Kingdom of Heaven after fighting cancer for four years and as he said, being "loved to death" by his six children, friends and caregivers, George and Aida Firman. He is survived by his sisters, Verdean Clements, Audrey Davis and Cleo Eugene; his brothers, Lawrence Marshall and Floyd Marshall Sr.; his six children, Yolanda Marshall Tisdale, Paul Marshall III, Wanda Marshall Winkler, Diane Marshall, Andre Marshall and Paula Marshall and their spouses, Raphael, Rita, Wesley, John and Susan, respectively; his five grandchildren, Life Marshall, Andrea Marshall, Isaac Marshall, Eric Marshall and Matthew Marshall; two great-grandchildren, Kade Charles Valentine Marshall and Alexandria Rhealise Marshall; and quite possibly hundreds of friends. He was a private pilot for more than 40 years and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. Anyone who has ever known Paul knows that he loved to laugh and dance. His favorite mantra was "Dance while you can." We smile knowing now that as he crossed over, he danced in his new body past St. Peter and through the Pearly Gates.
