Blades on a 1930 census for Winfield La.,county seat of Winn parish.Unable to confirm if this is biological grandfather.Searching for obit for Eddie W. Blades. Census list his age 58yrs old in 1930 with a Wife Julia K. and a son Nicholus.This Eddie W. Blades is listed as born in 1872 which looks like the right person since he would have been 26 yrs old when he married Annie Grace at 22 yrs old. I descend from Madison PRICE(my grandfather , b. 1865) son of Jesse Price, b. 1833, of Hineston & Sieper, Louisiana. Unfortunately, you don't ask the right questions when your ancestors are living. I did ask Aunt Mary , (my grandfathers sister)when I was 12 (I am now 74, how long she thought she would live. She said she hoped to live as long as her ggf. I asked how long he lived but not who he was. She said "Honey, he was 110 when he died".After grandfather had died and all his brothers and sisters were dead, I became curious about this 110 year old ancestor. I asked my grandmother if granddad had ever talked about family. She said the only name she remembered was REID. Knowing that they came to Rapides in 1858/9 from Tangaiphoa Parish, I began my search there. On the 1850 Census of Livingston Parish, I found a Jesse Price, age 19 along with 4 other siblings living in the household with a Henry Kibby. Kibby's wife was listed as Maury and as Mulatto (The way Indians were listed on the census.) About 10 years ago I was researching in Amite, Louisiana and I mentioned this 110 year old ancestor my Aunt Mary had mentioned. A researcher there said " why thats old John REID who had 6 kids by an Indian wife and hes buried in Briarpatch Cem. just NE of Hammond. He was b. in 1768 in SC and died in 1878 " Now I tell you all of this to tell you what I believe. I believe Maury Kibby was the mother of Jesse and I also believe she was Margaret Reid, daughter of old John Reid. The courthouse in Livingston burned about 1890 so very little is available on the family in that area. On that 1850 Census there is a David Price in the Kibby household. When Jesse Price went to Camp Moore to fight in the Civil War, a David Price joined the same unit on the same day as Jesse. David was killed in 1862 in a battle at Cornith, Miss. Would love to hear from anyone that can shed some light on this Price/Reid mystery.

My name is Alfred Michael Sanders. I am researching my Dad's family. My father is Alfred M.L. Sanders, dob 5 April 1918. His father was Ottice Euel Sanders, dob 3 or 30 June 1893 or 1895[maybe]. His father was William H. Sanders dob 1866 or November 1864[maybe]. William with a dob 1866 is listed as a son of Jeptha Sanders dob 1844; I am trying to verify this relationship. All of these men lived in Tangapahoa Parish. There is a family bible reference to Jeptha that takes the family back to Cullen Sanders dob 7 April 1778. Cullen was married to Sabra Mixon in the Orangeburg district of South Carolina on 20 September 1801. Jeptha and a son, Francis W. are buried in the Sanders family cemetery near Kentwood La.
