Two young men of Franklin Parish, some two weeks ago, rode over to a neighboring store, and while there indulged freely in drink. Returning home, one of them, named Stevens, insisted on running his horse. At a point some quarter of a mile from his home in the brake, the horse threw him against a tree, literally crushing the poor fellow’s skull. He was picked up and spoke but a few words and died almost immediately. Deceased, says the Franklin Sun, who was but 23 years of age, was an industrious young man, and his untimely fate is to be deplored.
