Fyler, George H.

Fyler, George H., of New Orleans, agent of the Pennsylvania R. R., was born at St. Louis, May 21, 1873, and is the son of James O D. and Fannie E. (Milburn) Fyler. James O'D. was a native of St. Louis county, Mo., and his wife was born at Louisville, Ky. They were the parents. of 1 son, George H. Fyler, the youngest of the family, and 2 daughters, one of whom, Lilly May, is the wife of Mr. LeRoy Hill of St. Louis. Mr. Fyler was reared and educated in his native city and after a 6 months' course in a commercial college began work as a messenger boy for the Pennsylvania R. R. Co. After rising through various clerical positions, he was, in 1900, appointed solicitor. His next promotion in the service made him traveling freight solicitor out of St. Louis. In March, 1909, he went to Dallas, Tex., in the same capacity and remained there until Nov. 1, 1910, at which time he came to New Orleans to be agent of the Pennsylvania R. R. Mr. Fyler has been in the railroad business 24 years and is considered an able and energetic business man. He is a member of the Louisiana Sugar Exchange and of the New Orleans Cotton exchange. Nov. 21, 1901, Mr. Fyler married Miss Sophie Kempff of St. Louis, Mo., a daughter of Frederick and Jeannette Kempff.
